The 2024 Chevy Silverado EV officially dropped cover in January of 2022, introducing a brand-new, all-electric variant for the popular pickup. Naturally, the Chevy Silverado EV will draw comparisons to the ICE-based Chevy Silverado 1500. Now, we’re doing exactly that, checking out the exterior and interior dimensions for both models in the following GM Authority Dimensional Comparison.
To note, this comparison will focus on two trim levels for the 2024 Chevy Silverado EV, specifically, the fleet-oriented WT (Work Truck) and well-equipped RST. These two trims are the first out the gates with regard to the 2024 Chevy Silverado EV launch cadence, with additional trims poised to arrive later.
With that covered, let’s check out the exterior and interior dimensions for the 2024 Chevy Silverado EV and how they compare to the ICE-based Chevy Silverado 1500.
Exterior
Outside, the Chevy Silverado EV is closest to the Chevy Silverado 1500 Short Bed in terms of wheelbase and overall length, with just a few inches of difference between the two of them. The Silverado 1500 Standard Bed is significantly longer in both measurements. Widest overall width, however, goes to the Silverado EV, as does tallest overall height.

Funny, I don’t see any curb weights listed for each model?
EV version weighs over 8,500 lb / 4,000 kg. Both Ford Lightning and Rivian R1T are much lighter, fuel efficient, affordable and are selling in higher #. GM sold only 2 Hummer EV in Q2 which is less than 1 / month.
Lets see how many Silverado EV they sell at such a high price of $73K.
Wondering why it has different dimensions with different trims, it only adds the cost of building and then some observer will say that GM has loss on every EV it sells.
Both Ford Lightning and Rivian R1T have 1 set of dimensions in all trims.
Wheels/lift/fenders. Fender guards add about a 1/4-1/2” each side vs a naked fender. Ditto with 30 vs 32” tires. Minutia really. The gasser is still bigger despite dimensions. You can see it when both are side. Had a conversation of size the other day of a 1985 ford highboy dually vs todays F350. They are the same width and height 30 years latter but you but them side by side and WOAH! Theres more mass on the F350. More weight too despite the highboys cast iron engine and transmission. Its
Not so much dimensions as how it fills out thise dimensions.
For example, my wife might be just as tall and wide as yours, but weights significantly less if you know what i mean😈😈😈
What about a factory right hand drive for us poor old Aussies?
Why didn’t they do a real world mileage towing comparison? I wonder if the Chevy EV does any better than the 75-100 miles of towing range that the Ford Lightning allegedly does? Nice to know that the EV buyers will take $7,500 out of my wallet for government rebates on the first purchase of this EV and an additional $4,500 out of my wallet for second owner purchase if obtained from a dealer. Also, nice to know that a person were to outright sell their EV that the they wouldn’t get the $4,500 so it looks to me like the dealers make a killing on these EVs. All brought to you from the group who has caused all the recent lower American standard of living due to the punishing inflation.
They might as well call it the Chevy Avalanche because it looks like the Avalanche. They could have made the Silverado EV look more a truck like the Ford F-150 lighting and the Ram 1500 EV
saw one on the road and wondered why the Avalanche had a Silverado badge. lol. Avalanche is ugly. This only slightly better.
Tried driving the Chev Silverado EV 4WT only to find out I could not comfortably see out the windshield.
Sales person, 6 ft. 4 inches tall sat in drivers seat, He looked like a child in that seat.
This truck built by Chev does not have a seat height adjustment. Just forward and back.
Chev, you can do better than that!!!!
