For the 2024 model year, the Chevy Silverado HD lineup received a mid-cycle refresh that included enhancements of the exterior, interior and powertrain to the Bow Tie brand’s heavy-duty truck. To help get an understanding of the updates to the front fascia, here’s a breakdown on the 2024 Chevy Silverado HD pickup’s grille and finishes, and their respective configurations.
There are two front fascia designs on the 2024 Silverado HD, along with 10 finishes.
Trim Level | Grille Inserts | Grille Bar | Lighting |
---|---|---|---|
Work Truck (WT) | Black | Black | Halogen |
Custom | Black | Body-Color | Halogen |
LT | Black | Chrome | Halogen |
LT Z71 Sport Edition | Black | Body-Color | LED |
LT Midnight Edition | Black | Black | LED |
LTZ | Chrome | Chrome | LED |
LTZ Z71 Sport Edition | Black | Body-Color | LED |
LTZ Midnight Edition | Black | Black | LED |

For our sharp-eyed readers out there, here’s the explanation for some of the potential discrepancies. Normal LT units receive the lower-spec front fascia design, which includes halogen lighting elements. However, when equipped with the Z71 Sport or Midnight Edition packages, the LT receives the LTZ’s more upscale front fascia design.
In addition, there are unique grille inserts for the LT Z71, LT Midnight and LTZ trims, the High Country and the ZR2.
It’s worth noting that the 2023 Chevy Silverado HD featured eight unique finishes.
As a reminder, the 2024 Chevy Silverado HD is equipped as standard with the naturally aspirated 6.6L V8 L8T gasoline engine, rated at 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque, across the entire trim linup. The optional 6.6L V8 L5P turbodiesel Duramax engine, which has been uprated to 470 horsepower and 975 pound-feet of torque, is also available.
In regard to transmission choice, both engines feature the Allison-branded 10-speed automatic as standard.
Under the body panels, the Chevy Silverado HD rides on a more-capable variant of the GM T1 platform, which it shares with its corporate platform-mate, the 2024 GMC Sierra HD. Production officially kicked off in March 2023 at the GM Flint plant in Michigan and few weeks later the GM Oshawa plant in Canada.

I’m so happy to see the bowtie rerun to all the trim levels.
Is the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500hd LT offering any incentives. Waiting on my any day to come in to the dealer
Pity the poor release engineer and assembly workers dealing with all of this complexity! Would love to see the tooling cost and how much of the tooling was done domestically.
When will the LT Midnight Edition with a Duramax be available?? I put an order in July of 22 for a Z71 custom sport. I got pushed into a 2024 so changed it to midnight edition because black was supposed to be released earlier than blue. Now I am told everything is on constraint. If you can’t deliver options then don’t offer them until you have them GM. The waiting game after 10 months with no answers is totally unacceptable. I buy a new chevy truck every three years since 2000 and ready to jump ship after this.
Beauty in the eye of the beholder. That’s why there are so much variety and colors and makers of stuff.
