2024 Chevy Colorado ZR2 Bison To Debut On May 31st

While the Chevy Colorado ZR2 is already an extremely capable off-roader in its own right, the Colorado ZR2 Bison takes the midsizer’s all-terrain aptitudes to the next level thanks to unique off-road goodies. Now, General Motors has revealed when the 2024 Chevy Colorado ZR2 Bison will be officially unveiled.

In a post to social media, The General teased a couple of photos of the upcoming Chevy Colorado ZR2 Bison in prototype form. Additionally, GM wrote that the range-topping model will make its official debut later this year on May 31st, 2023.

For those who may be unaware, anticipation for the upcoming 2024 Colorado ZR2 Bison is building, and GM Authority has already captured a few prototypes testing out on public roads. Set to be positioned as a standalone trim level, the ZR2 Bison will indirectly replace the 2023 Colorado ZR2 Desert Boss as the ultimate all-terrain Colorado.

The ZR2 Bison stands out from the “regular” ZR2 with its 35-inch, LT315/70R17 Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac tires and long-travel Multimatic DSSV dampers, along with hydraulic bump stops and an extra two inches of ground clearance. GM gave a preview of the upcoming all-terrain monster at the 2021 SEMA Show in Las Vegas with the 2022 Chevy Colorado ZR2 Extreme Off-Road concept.

Under the hood, the 2024 Chevy Colorado ZR2 Bison will be equipped with the same turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B Turbo High-Output gasoline engine as in the “regular” ZR2, which develops 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque. The updated GM eight-speed automatic transmission will route power to the pavement (or dirt), while 4WD will be featured as standard fare.

As for structure, the all-new Colorado rides on the updated 31XX platform, while production takes place at the GM Wentzville plant in Missouri.

  2. I have high hopes for this thing. i’d go as far to say that i would like to see TFL offroad take this, the raptor r, and ram trx out to moab and see how the bison stacks up to the big two in terms of offroad capability. obviously this thing is down on power but thats not what i’m focusing on. this thing must be 4 inches taller than the regular colorado. very impressive.

  4. Debut May 31 holy smokes that means it wouldn’t be available to the consumer for about another year. Look at the actual debauched unveiling of the Colorado canyon. What a nightmare good luck trying to get that and yes, it will probably in my guesstimate be in the mid 60s Come on GM prove me wrong. Let this be a good roll out with availability and transparency for the customer.
