Just last week, GM Authority covered the story of a brand-new 2023 Chevy Corvette Z06 that was spotted in a custom wrap to make it look like a service vehicle for the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in Canada, prompting many readers to ask if the new mid-engine sports car would actually be used for law enforcement. Now, the mystery behind the OPP Corvette Z06 has been solved.
In a recent post to social media, OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt explained the purpose behind the wrapped C8 Corvette Z06 straight from the floor of the Canadian International Auto Show (a.k.a. Toronto Auto Show) where the sports car was on display alongside several police-spec SUVs and other law enforcement vehicles.
“We’re using this car to really create some buzz,” Schmidt says. “Have a conversation with people coming through.”
According to Schmidt, GM loaned the Corvette Z06 to the OPP as a promotional vehicle to boost recruitment, wrapping the exterior in a black-and-white themed color treatment with large police graphics and the OPP badge on the doors. The vehicle is also equipped with red and blue lights, completing the police car look.
“You will not see this on the road,” Schmidt states. “But we’re doing this, talking about recruiting.”
“If this inspires you,” Schmidt says, pointing the camera at the OPP Corvette Z06, “this won’t be your police car on the road.” Schmidt then points the camera at an OPP Chevy Tahoe SUV parked adjacent to the Vette. “But this may very well be your office.”

As a reminder, the 2023 Corvette Z06 draws motivation from the naturally aspirated 5.5L V8 LT6 gasoline engine, which is rated at 670 horsepower. Under the body, the C8 Corvette rides on the GM Y2 platform, with production taking place at the GM Bowling Green plant in Kentucky.

All those people whinning about tax payer money and “i have been on the z06 waiting list…this isn’t fair” lmao
You down with OPP? (Yeah you know me)
A Police Corvette would never be used in a pm. The body would not take it. Plus, who would want to wreck a Corvette?
WATCH THE VIDEO , IT IS ON LOAN FROM GM! DO NOT BE SO EAGER TO WHINE.
Almost worth getting a speeding ticket for…almost.
