2024 Chevy Blazer EV SS Teased, To Be Fully Revealed On July 18th

GM just teased the upcoming 2024 Chevy Blazer EV SS, announcing that the new all-electric crossover will get a full reveal on July 18th.

In addition to announcing the debut date for the new Blazer EV, GM also dropped a new photo of the crossover in full, unobscured glory. The image shows the new all-electric Chevy from the front three-quarters view, with the body panels covered in Radiant Red Metallic paint. A few other noteworthy features include a technical frontend design, complete with horizontal lighting bits and an SS badge, as well as the large two-tone wheels. The roofline looks low thanks to a raised shoulder line and black lower trim, with the roof also done in black for a two-tone finish. Of course, GM states that the vehicle shown in this new image is a preproduction vehicle, and that the actual production model will vary.

When it arrives, the Chevy Blazer EV will be the third model to hit the market with GM’s Ultium battery technology and Ultium motor technology, following the GMC Hummer EV off-roader and Cadillac Lyriq EV luxury crossover. Under the skin, the Chevy Blazer SS will ride on the GM BEV3 platform. The Chevy Blazer EV will also be the first all-electric Chevy model to wear the legendary SS badge.

Inside the 2024 Chevy Blazer EV is expected to run a large infotainment screen and digital instrument panel, a setup that should resemble the interior layout on offer from the new Chevy Silverado EV. Check out previous GM Authority spy photos of the 2024 Chevy Blazer EV interior for more.

When it launches, the 2024 Chevy Blazer EV is expected to rival the Ford Mustang Mach-E. Prototype versions of the Blazer EV have also been spotted testing on public roads alongside the Volkswagen ID.4

Look for the new 2024 Chevy Blazer EV to be available in the Spring of 2023.

  1. Interesting, I think I like it. Quite different from the current Blazer. I can appreciate that they are developing these vehicles from the ground up as opposed to just shoving batteries in the current ones.

    1. You mention different from the current ICE model . . . this is probably just me here, but offering two different models with same name sounds like a recipe to confuse customers. The same for the new EV Rado and EV Nox. I get the whole move to EV’s but why use the same naming convention. Perhaps someone with intel at GM can explain the logic here.

Also, all the EV attention has been on Chevy/Cadillac/Buick – what’s happen at GMC. Hopefully a Jimmy EV. And does anyone know about the EV future for the Tahoe/Suburban/Yukon/Escalade – GM”s huge cash cows?

    2. It has too many doors to be an SS.

      1. Chevrolet SS

      2. The SS has had more than 2 doors over the years with different variants of the Chevy Brand.

    3. The styling of the EV’s hits the mark and I prefer the sheet metal compared to the gas powered vehicle, same with the Silverado.

  2. What is up with the rear passenger windows?

    Reply
    1. Nothing is up with them… It has the smaller window on the back of the door so you can roll it down all the way.
Then it goes to the window behind the C pillar.

    2. Poor design. The current Blazer has a blunt but simple look that grows on you. This is a mess.

      1. This looks better than the ICE Blazer.

    3. If you are referring to the rear quarter window…well I thought the same thing. Not sure what is up with the break in it at the top. It completely destroys the flow of of the roofline

      1. agreed

    4. I think it’s called a quarter window or quarter glass – something from the past. It messes up the flow of the vehicle.

  3. Ugly. U…G…L….Y. You ain’t got not no alibi. Ugly.

  4. Looks good.

I think I like the Equinox EV just a bit more, but I like.

  5. Uh, not for me. And I thought the Mach-E was ugly…

    Reply
    1. The Mach-E is ugly, why can’t we get this Blazer with an ICE in it.

      Reply
      1. Because this is GM we are talking about…they take interesting concept designs and put them through a “make boring” filter and then put the least desirable powertrain in them before sending to the public.

      2. You can get an ICE Blazer.

This Blazer is on the GM EV platform because it is a full EV not sone converted hack job.

Look much better than anything Tesla is offering.

    2. Yep. I agree. This is very disappointing.

  6. Looks super cheap.

  7. WOW! That looks Great! I think I have found my next new car. Assuming that photo actually makes it to Production

  8. Well well, not bad at all. Thought it would be much plainer looking. Then again this is a SS Blazer which is of course more sporty looking, and should come with higher performance. Want to see the LT and RS versions.

  9. I’m assuming that this is a split off the Lyriq. Curious of the dimensions and of course pricing. IMO GM is much further along in their efforts to exploit the EV style of vehicle. No they are not first to market but they are also not bringing a converted platform to rush things. And the Ultium cells are going to be more of an advantage that some people recognize at this time.

  10. No problem with EVs, but that’s not what I would call an SS. I Have A 2006 Trailblazer SS. It’s still a head turner and lots of fun 👍🏽

    Reply
    1. Your trailblazer SS was brought to market by management that bankrupted the company. It was a lame attempt to attach the SS moniker to anything they could.

In base form, the Blazer EV is going to outperform your Trailblazer SS in every metric. You’re going to be blown away.

      Reply
      1. Have you ever read the history of the SS trailblazer and how it came about? Im sure it will be faster, That’s been seen with all the sporty EVs including the 10000 lb Hummer EV. What’s the point? I never mentioned the performance just my opinion on looks and sound and fun to drive.

      2. It has too many doors.

        Reply
        1. Yeah, Family SUVs should be 2 doors. SMH

          Reply
      3. Yeah because crossover buyers are all worried about 0-60 times. I seriously doubt most any crossover shopper today cares about 0-60 times and are more than happy with the performance and price paid for the current crop on offer.

        Reply
        1. The regular LT and RS versions will be for the normal crossover shoppers. This will be for those that really care about and want the best performance they can get (and can afford it)….of course there will be some wealthy wives that just want it cause it’s the most expensive one lol, but will they really buy Chevy?

          Reply
      4. A body on frame rear wheel drive with an LS2 was a lame attempt to attach the SS moniker? Do you know wtf a SS is?

        Reply
  11. Chevrolet likes to throw the SS badge on everything. They’ve destroyed it. I just don’t understand GM at all…

    Reply
    1. I honestly dont think that is the case here. As a matter of fact GM has made a bold statement with pushing out a new SS Blazer that we have been bothering them about. I think this is a high performance EV Blazer with possibly a lower range distance trade off.

      Reply
      1. I get what you’re saying, but the SS badge back in the day really meant something. Legendary cars wore that badge & it actually meant something. Today its just lost its meaning. I don’t think putting it on an all electric SUV is going to help purify the SS badge at all.

        Reply
        1. True. I understand what you are saying now. That is what happens when GM corporate central crushed their famous and renowned Divisions into being mere brands of the company. If it were up to me I would return the Divisions back to being decentralized interdependent semi autonomous arms of GM.

        1. IMO, it’s been at least 13 years since “SS” was placed on an unworthy vehicle. I’m going to withhold negative judgment until more info is released. If this thing turns out to be lame, then I’ll agree with you; we’ve got a Malibu Maxx SS 2.0 situation.

          Reply
          1. I agree with you, and yes the ’06 Malibu SS is probably the worst offender. How is 240 hp & front wheel drive SS badge worthy? lol

            Reply
    3. This thing will be SS worthy. You can pretty much assume this guy is gonna have 450+ HP and likely 600+ torque. It will also have a price to match it’s performance lol.

  12. Goofy looking.
What’s up with the rear cargo area side window? Looks like a rectangular piece of Plexiglas just glued in place.

The Equinox EV is WAYYYY better looking.

    Reply
    1. I like them both, but I agree the Equinox right now is the winner between them.

  13. It actually looks nice, although it is a disgrace to the Blazer nameplate. I would drive it if EVs were forced on us, but for now I’ll stick with my Duramax and impala police interceptor.

  14. Those tires. Drive anywhere in Detroit and you bend a rim. I can feel the car crashing over potholes already.

  19. If the performance part is done correctly and this has a Good Interior, these will sell very well.
I am assuming it will have slightly less Range overall than the rest of the Blazer Range but Zero to Sixty better be under 4 seconds.

  20. I’m curious – do most of you think the front ‘grille’ area looks jumbled and messy?

    Reply
    1. I think it looks pretty good overall, but yeah, the front is a little on the busy side, but I wouldn’t call it a complete mess. Need to see more angles. If there is an RS version that looks mostly like this but maybe with a slightly less aggressive front end, it could be very nice also.

  21. I didn’t think going to a Ford mustang machE would matter much, but after a year of ownership I would definitely dump the Ford for this! I owned a 2018 Volt for three years and I really miss the quality and reliability of GM products.

  22. I can’t believe how many thumbs down were given to posts that felt this is just an unattractive mess. There’s no doubt that the styling of any vehicle is subjective but there are many vehicles that are admired by a majority, show me one Ferrari that isn’t awe inspiringly attractive. With all due respect this is just unattractive, compare this to the upcoming Polestar 3, or the Fisker Ocean, they represent the future of sporty sleek SUV’s, this Blazer is just a hot mess. Again, looks are subjective but I worked in a vehicle design studio and this design just missed the mark. Once again Mary Barra is destroying this beloved company with terrible decisions. JMHO

  25. Can someone reveal an honest Dealership in the Phoenix AZ valley that doesn’t tack on rubbish to the MSRP. I haven’t been able to find one including the one that I purchased my 2020 Chevy Bolt from. I want to reserve a Blazer EV but there isn’t an honest bone in their body.
