Back in October, GM Authority reported that the Shock and Steel Edition package for the 2022 Chevy Camaro was unavailable to order. Now, however, GM Authority has learned that the package is once again available.
The 2022 Chevy Camaro’s Shock and Steel Edition package is tagged with RPO code B2E, and is available on 2LT, 3LT and 2SS trim levels, including both the Coupe and Convertible body styles. Pricing for the Shock and Steel Edition package is set at $2,995.
The Shock and Steel Edition package for the 2022 Chevy Camaro includes the following content (restrictions and relevant RPO codes listed in parentheses):
- 20-inch blade design aluminum wheels (2LT and 3LT only) (RPO code Q7F)
- 20-inch blade design aluminum wheels (2SS only) (RPO code 56Y)
- Carbon Flash-painted outside mirrors and center stripe (Silver when Rapid Blue, paint code GMO, is ordered; Shock when Black, paint code GBA, Satin Steel Metallic, paint code G9K, or Summit White, paint code GAZ, is ordered)
- Fuel filler door in Black with visible carbon fiber insert (RPO code VQL)
- Yellow-painted calipers (RPO code J6E)
- Black sueded knee pads (RPO code S0U)
- Carbon fiber instrument panel molding (RPO code 3DL)
- Premium carpeted floor mats (RPO code VYW)
- Rear stanchion spoiler (2LT and 3LT only) (RPO code D5Z)
- Brembo four-piston front performance brakes (2LT and 3LT only) (RPO code J55)
For 2LT and 3LT trim levels, the Shock and Steel Edition package also includes the RS package (RPO code WRS), which includes the following content:
- Dark tint LED tail lamps
- RS-specific grilles
- Black front and rear bow ties
- Deck lid-mounted lip spoiler (RPO code D80)
The Shock and Steel Edition package is available in conjunction with the following 2022 Chevy Camaro paint colors (relevant paint code listed in parentheses):
- Rapid Blue (GMO)
- Black (GBA)
- Satin Steel Metallic (G9K)
- Summit White (GAZ)
The Shock and Steel Edition package is only available with a single interior colorway, namely Jet Black (RPO code H0Y).
As a reminder, the 2022 Chevy Camaro is the seventh model year of the latest sixth-generation nameplate, introducing a few changes and updates over the preceding 2021 model year. Engine options include the turbocharged 2.0L I4 LTG, the naturally aspirated 3.6L V6 LGX, the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 LT1, and the supercharged 6.2L V8 LT4.
Under the skin, the Chevy Camaro rides on the GM Alpha platform. Production takes place at the GM Lansing Grand River Plant in Michigan.

Trying to order a23 SS. Have a 22 trade. Is 23 the last year? Need to know.
As a GM Performance fanatic (my garage houses both a 5th Gen Camaro SS and C7 GS as weekend/summer cars), this is just another “sticker package” from GM that costs $$$ more, for absolutely no performance gain. Meanwhile, both Ford and MOPAR engineer several PERFORMANCE packages for the Mustang and Challenger (Bullitt, Mach 1, T/A, 1320, 392, Hellcat, Redeye, etc.).
Great job, Mary. This is why the Camaro is getting the axe after next year, while the other brands keep building.
FYI Mary: You have thousands of customers that want more than boring, anemic, cookie-cutter CUV’s.
You hit the nail right on the head. It makes no sense all these different sticker packages they keep introducing but no performance upgrades. This is exactly why it’s getting canceled.
I was wondering why you can only get front painted calipers on the LT for the shock and steel and not the back like the SS.
Because on the V6, GM only provides Brembo brakes to the front. The rear gets a pair of “bargain-bin” calipers and pads.
Same with the LT1 which makes no sense. All V8’s should get Brembos all around. It’s a basic safety issue.
It really comes down to how hard you’re using your car. The brakes of a vehicle are (more or less) 75% front and 25% rear. Sure, utilizing Brembo at all four corners is outstanding, but if you’re not tracking your car/bike, a factory set-up on the rear will suffice.
But the thing is this why can’t I order them with the package. Why can’t I tell them yes I want brembo calipers and brakes in the back so it all matches all four and you can’t I can’t get an answer as to the reason why.
There are numerous companies that produce Brembo packages for the Camaro. Choose one of them and install it yourself. It is a pretty easy afternoon project.
Well even if camaro don’t add more horsepower I’m still a fan, at least you dont hear about people crashing this car on the websites and in the news, besides our country don’t have a highway to run wide open with all the horsepower the cars are putting out, we don’t have what germany has to run wide open, so why are putting that much power into the cars, all we have are quarter mile run ways over this country, 7 to 900 horses will only get you a ticket in the USA
…. and for most drivers untrained for this high hp —- Dead.
Levator Thomas what people don’t understand is that the Dodge Demon Hellcat SRT is a track toy… There is no way your using 700-900hp on public roads. The days of the 1960’s in Brooklyn NY where my father raced on the connecting highways and blocked the entire highway are long gone. 450-650hp in the Camaro is plenty for street use!
