Hennessey Performance Engineering offers a range of upgrade packages for the supercharged Camaro ZL1.
The entry-level upgrade kit from Hennessey for the Camaro ZL1 is the HPE850 package. It may produce a whopping 850 horsepower and 860 pound-feet of torque, but believe it or not, this is the tamest Hennessey Camaro ZL1 available. The extra 200 horsepower and 210 pound-feet come from an upgraded lower supercharger pulley, high flow cylinder heads, a different heat exchanger, upgraded valve springs, upgraded lifters and pushrods, long-tube headers, high flow cats, a high flow intake and an aggressive Hennessey Performance camshaft.
Next in the range is the Hennessey Exorcist, which makes an eye-popping 1000 horsepower and 883 pound-feet of torque thanks to a larger 2.9L supercharger, upgraded fuel system, a billet throttle body and many of the same engine modifications that come with the HPE850 package (high flow cylinder heads, upgraded valvetrain etc.).
Believe it or not, Hennessey also offers a Camaro ZL1 upgrade package that is even more powerful than the Exorcist. The top-tier package, fittingly dubbed the Ressurection, trades the supercharged 6.2L LT4 V8 engine for the superior 6.2L LT5 engine from the C7 Corvette ZR1. From here, Hennessey also applies its tuning know-how to the LT5, giving it a ported supercharger, larger throttle body, custom camshaft, high flow induction system, ported cylinder heads, long tube headers, upgrade valves and lifters and other new parts. The Ressurection is good for a frankly ridiculous 1,200 horsepower and 1000 pound-feet of torque.
With so many options available, it’s clear the Camaro ZL1 is one of the more popular vehicles over at Hennessey’s shop in Sealy, Texas. It appears that Hennessey is doing a bit more for the Camaro brand than GM. Perhaps this is part of the reason why they’re not offering anything beyond the current model range, aside from overall weakening sales and buying trends….
More chatter of yesteryear.. where’s the MONSTER horsepower C8 Corvettes that Hennessey promised.
