Hennessey Performance Engineering has been a busy bee. Not only has it been working on a Dodge Demon slaying Camaro Exorcist, it’s also continuing work on its various other vehicle builds.
Today, Hennessey wants to share its Camaro ZL1 HPE850, which rockets down the drag strip with plenty of authority. It’s no Exorcist, but it’s plenty quick. With 858 horsepower on tap—735 hp at the rear wheels—the 2017 Camaro ZL1 scoots down the quarter-mile in 10.54 seconds at nearly 132 mph in its first test run. That’s what a set of 20-inch drag radial tires and the quick-shifting 10-speed automatic doing its thing, too.
Right away, it’s still slower than a factory Dodge Demon, but the Camaro ZL1 HPE850 doesn’t require race gas. It does all of this on premium, 93 octane. Have a look and a listen right up above.
