For the second consecutive month, GM Korea sales saw a healthy increase in April, despite the negative impact of the COVID-19 outbreak. The automaker managed to buck the negative trend put on by the virus, with increases from both the Chevrolet and Cadillac brands.
The positive performance is the result of solid performance of three new Chevrolet models introduced over the last few months, as well as the surprising jump in sales volume of the best-selling Cadillac model in the South Korean market.
The new, locally-produced Chevrolet Trailblazer is a significant reason for the uptick in Chevrolet deliveries in April. The new crossover went on sale mid-February and has since become one of the most popular models in its class in South Korea. In addition, the Colorado and Traverse also saw healthy levels of sales volume, with the two imported models totaling 657 deliveries.
Meanwhile, the Cadillac brand registered a double-digit increase in April sales volume, driven primarily by the 123 percent growth in CT6. The results allow the model to become the best-selling Cadillac model in South Korea. Additionally, the 16 deliveries of the Cadillac XT6, which recently went on sale in Korea, alos contributed to the 12 percent growth in sales volume.
At a time of year when luxury car ATP usually rises.
Sales decreased 5.6 percent to 16,670 units during the first ten months of 2024.
Specifically critical minerals supply chain development.
Scheduled for a Spring 2025 launch.

As a korean, I'm pretty sure that if GM introduce Buick brand to South Korea, they will sell more cars than cadillac.
The name value of Cadillac is not the same as it is in the States. Many people don't even know Cadillac brand exists. And, even we get a chance to see the Cadillac car and love the design, the price tag makes us to choose another brand such as BMW. I think Cadillac is luxury car that can only be appealed to Americans. I am quite sure that people in Korea will like a vehicle with a decent design and acceptable price, which is the Buick brand.
If GM wants to sell more cars in Korea and want to make more profit than Cadillac, I think they really should bring Buick and let go of Cadillac.
There is room for both Buick and Cadillac as very different luxury vehicles. GM is the only automaker that has two luxury brands of this type... and it hasn't been leveraging them to their fullest extent, not in Korea, and not in North America.
I think the reason they cannot develop Buick and Cadillac more than now because they can compete each other in the middle. However, in Korea, I think they should see this problem different.
I think Cadillac is not competing with native brand Genesis. They are competing with BMW and Volkswagen. There has to be line up to compete with Hyundai Genesis. I think Buick is the best fit. Genesis brand cannot compete with luxury brands yet, it is still near luxury wannabe. Buick can take some market share in this near luxury market.
It's a shame that they don't even try to come in. Buick is doing great in China, and as a korean, I think Buick can do great in korea than Cadillac.
