The 2025 Chevy Equinox EV will arrive as the second model year of the Bow Tie’s all-electric crossover, though there is currently no publicly available information on what changes or updates are in store for the vehicle. However, GM Authority has learned when production of the Equinox EV is scheduled to start.

GM has scheduled the launch of the 2025 Chevy Equinox EV production for Monday, August 26th, 2024. As always with production plans, this date is tentative until the first units roll off the assembly line, and changes or postponements to scheduled SORP are possible at any time between now and the provided date.
As a reminder, deliveries of the 2024 Chevy Equinox EV started in mid-May of this year, with 2RS and 2RS Launch Edition vehicles being the first to arrive in the hands of purchasers. The 2LT, 3LT, and 3RS trim levels began to reach dealerships several weeks after that.
Notably, GM says the base 1LT trim level will arrive later in the year, with no currently scheduled date. It is possible that the 2025 Chevy Equinox EV might actually introduce the 1LT trim, with no 1LT crossovers produced for the 2024 model year.
Pricing for the 2024 Equinox EV starts at $34,995 for the 1LT trim in front-wheel drive configuration (or $38,295 for all-wheel drive). The starting MSRP then jumps to $43,295 for the FWD 2LT and rises to $50,095 for the range-topping 3RS equipped with AWD. A $1,395 destination freight charge is included in these prices. Pricing for the 2025 model year, like most other information about it, is not yet available.
The Equinox EV is also eligible for a Clean Vehicle Federal Tax Credit of up to $7,500.
The Chevy Equinox EV is underpinned by the GM BEV3 platform, while GM Ultium batteries and GM Ultium Drive motors provide power and motivation. Production for the North American market takes place at the GM Ramos Arizpe plant in Mexico.

Given there’s virtually no dealer inventory yet, it seems like a strategic mistake that they didn’t make the Equinox EV a 2025 version from the start. Unless maybe they’re planning on changing the charging port with the MY change, in which case that might be a reason.
Initially production was to start in the fourth quarter of 2023, thus still making it a 2024 model year. Delays pushed it back to the first quarter of 2024, and yes technically they could have had it be a 2025 but it was too late and not worth the effort, and confusion to the consumer.
There was a delay in receiving the approved Statement of Conformity from the EPA and NHTSA. I suspect it was because the NHTSA didn’t want to deal with another software driven recall like the Blazer EV had. Equinox EVs were sitting in the rail transshipment yard southwest of Dallas, TX for over a month waiting for this approval to sell.
I think that’s where they bolt on enough stuff to get the full tax credit.
Between the three dealers closest to me (about a ten mile radius) there are 18 in stock, with another 20 in transit. National inventory levels are still relatively low (Chevrolet lists about ~8k nationally, including in transit) but I’m betting that reflects high sell-through rather than low production.
All 2 dealers by me have inventory so not sure where you live!
I checked the Chevrolet site and it turns out there are some in my area, but not at the dealer I would usually use (and the one I’d been checking), not even any in transit to them, but my second choice did have a couple. There were two dealers that had a decent amount, until you got down to trim level and color.
And BTW, the one I would use has Blazer EVs in stock, so it’s not that they’re avoiding EVs.

The only gripe is the door handles. GM don’t try to copy Tesla as thes handles are a pain there too.
If you pull the car up to wash the handles will stick out unless you lock the car. You do not want it locked if you are cleaning.
Just put regular handles on.
Yup, same kind of stick-out handles as Hyundai and Kia EV’s use. And not fail-safe. I’d much rather deal with a fully manual door handle for safety reasons.
I’d much rather deal with fully manual door handles for reliability reasons. I’ve been looking forward to this model, but this may be a deal killer for me, and I am concerned about visibility (need to sit in one to determine). That such relatively small matters (e.g. flat bottom steering wheels, tablet stuck onto dash, lack of physical controls) are deal killers is the reason I don’t own an EV already.
Door handles are a deal killer? Really? Are people that petty something that minor would make them change vehicles? Changes are the other options have larger issues if this is the top choice. You do you, but the sense of entitlement of people these days is baffling….
It’s not entitlement, it’s about paying a butt-load of money and not getting what you want (and having to put up with some knucklehead’s interpretation of what everyone needs to have reinvented).
Me, my comment on the handles was mainly about reliability concerns, but you’re not wrong. Your comment could also be applied to GM’s move to proximity sensors for opening rear hatches.
TMI, you apparently don’t know what “entitlement’ means, nor did you understand what I wrote. Your ignorance is baffling.
The only real issue I have with the door handles is that even when you configure the car to only unlock the driver’s door all four handles still pop out. I’m hoping a software update resolves this but it’s not going to keep me from buying one.

Maybe the 2025 will have all the stuff they announced for the car then deleted to see who would take the bait-and-switch. I’d love to buy one but there’s way too much stuff that’s in the owner’s manual but not available to order on an actual car. At this point the Optiq is the only right-sized vehicle they’ve got with the things a car at this price point should have (nice stereo, auto-folding mirrors, digital rear view mirror).
I finally got to go drive one, and it is a really nice size and great driving car. Unfortunately, the dash is designed in a way that it reflects a HUGE amount of light and is just dangerous. Hopefully the 2025 addresses that weird plastic thing that stretches across the whole windshield and seems to be designed to reflect light at any angle.

A lot of vehicles have dashboard glare, u would think by this stage designers would be alert enough to be on the lookout for this. Not just throw the dashboard together
