Cadillac XT5, XT6 Recalled For Blank Instrument Cluster Issue

General Motors has issued a Noncompliance Recall for select units of the 2024 Cadillac XT5 and the 2025 Cadillac XT5, along with the 2024 Cadillac XT6 and 2025 Cadillac XT6, for a blank instrument cluster resulting from damaged components.

“General Motors has initiated a voluntary non-compliance recall of certain model year 2024-2025 Cadillac XT5s and model year 2024-2025 XT6s for instrument panel cluster operation that does not conform to federal vehicle standards,” a GM representative informed GM Authority, adding, “The safety and satisfaction of our customers are our highest priorities and we’re working to remedy this matter as quickly as possible.”

The problem: Affected Cadillac XT5 and Cadillac XT6 units, and those of other affected model years may have a condition in which the instrument cluster display is blank and cannot be programmed, per Noncompliance Recall notice N242447941.

The hazards: If this issue has occurred, the affected Cadillac XT5 or XT6 unit already has damage to the instrument panel cluster. The cluster cannot be programmed using a USB drive in this case.

Multiple hazards can result if the instrument cluster is blank. These may include failure to activate turn signals, warning flashers, and/or high-beam headlights. Conversely, these signals, flashers, and/or headlights may be switched on without the driver’s knowledge. The absent or incorrect visual info provided to other drivers or pedestrians could result in increased chances of an accident.

The fix: Certified GM technicians will be ordered to inspect potentially affected 2024 through 2025 Cadillac XT5 and Cadillac XT6 vehicles to see if the blank instrument cluster is present. If the instrument cluster is not yet blank, it is not damaged, and service personnel should reprogram it with the correct, updated software. The radio must also be updated. In this instance, no new parts are required.

However, if the instrument cluster is blank, it is damaged and cannot be reprogrammed. The instrument cluster must be replaced with new components. Since no new components are currently available, the recalled vehicles cannot be repaired and must be held until parts are made available and the bulletin is updated.

Affected components: Driver Info Cluster Multi-Color Enhanced Graphic Display Instrument (RPO code UHS).

Affected vehicles:

  • 2024 Cadillac XT5
  • 2025 Cadillac XT5
  • 2024 Cadillac XT6
  • 2025 Cadillac XT6

Number of affected vehicles: The current number of affected vehicles in the United States is currently about 6,870 units. This total includes approximately 4,360 model-year 2024 through 2025 Cadillac XT6 crossovers and approximately 2,510 model-year 2024 through 2025 Cadillac XT5 crossovers.

  1. Remember when cars had analog speedo’s, tach’s, and actual temp and oil pressure gages that worked for the entire lifespan of 99% of all cars, and cost only a tiny fraction of the price of a touchscreen when building the car, or to replace if you had the 1 in 5 million that may have failed? They didn’t need software upgrades, they didn’t go blank when you were driving, they didn’t log all the data regarding how you were driving, and that data wasn’t sold to 3rd party companies so they could monitor your speed or how hard you hit the brakes every time you drove somewhere, and give that info to every insurance company so they could raise your rates…
    Good times…
…from back when your car didn’t come with a built in cop to watch and record you or your every move when behind the wheel…
    Pepperidge Farms remembers..
..and they don’t sell your data to insurance companies either… unlike GM

  2. Well glad to know they don’t treat all dashes like the GMT800s. (I’m assuming this is only because they caught it with a few thousand cars being a problem and not tens to hundreds of thousands)

  3. When is GM going to throw in the towel and start building something they are capable of like maybe paper weights?

  5. So GM can’t make a working electronic display and will seize and hold your car until they can but Typhoid Mary is forcing GM into making nothing but electric golf carts…

  6. So they better have a lot of loaner cars, stocks keep going down. I’ve got 7,700 miles on my ct4 and needs emissions parts, back ordered. That tells u about quality, sucks

  7. I had my XT5 for 3 weeks with 700 miles on it when the cluster went out! That was May 25th. It’s now August 6th and I still have NO car & no answers! The dealership has been less than helpful & I’ve been on the phone every other day with Cadillac finally getting them to agree to repurchase the car. That was 19 days ago & I am still waiting! Goes to show you that buying a Luxury vehicle does not mean it comes with Luxury service.
