GM Design Team Releases GMC Sierra EV Sketches

The GM Design Instagram feed (@generalmotorsdesign) recently posted a series of design sketches that provide a behind-the-scenes look at the design process for the all-electric GMC Sierra EV Denali. The sketches provide a view of the truck from the front, side, and rear, as well as several details. Looking at the images side-by-side with the final production design, the inspiration is clear.

“This truck was meticulously designed to create a bold and technical presence,” GM Design writes in the post. “From the commanding lines of the front to the machined surface of the sides, the team worked to evolve the ethos of the GMC brand with the Denali of EVs.”

The sketches offer a comprehensive view of the all-electric GMC Sierra EV Denali, including front three-quarters, profile, and rear three-quarters perspectives, along with a detailed shot of the wheel design and taillight. Rendered in black and white, these stylized sketches reveal a clear design inspiration characterized by curving lighting signatures in the front end, a blocked-off grille section, extensive horizontal lines, and a tall, bold stance. The wheel design showcases a multi-piece layout with an intricate, technical look.

As GM Authority covered last month, General Motors has announced significant updates for the 2024 GMC Sierra EV Denali Edition 1, including a reduced price and an higher estimated range-per-charge figure, paralleling updates announced for the Chevy Silverado EV RST First Edition.

Originally announced in October 2022 with an estimated price tag of $107,000 (excluding destination freight charge), the GMC Sierra EV Denali Edition 1 now starts at $99,495, including $1,995 for DFC. This adjustment marks a substantial price reduction of approximately $9,500. GM has also increased the range-per-charge estimate for the Sierra EV Denali Edition 1. Initially estimated at 400 miles per charge, the updated GM estimate now stands at 440 miles, representing an increase of 10 percent.

The GM BT1 platform provides the underpinnings.
