GM Design Team Releases Early BrightDrop Delivery Van Sketches

GM’s BrightDrop delivery vans are now on the road providing last-mile delivery service via an all-new, all-electric platform. These commercial vehicles are currently in use by a variety of different major companies, including FedEx, Walmart, Ryder, DHL Express, and others. Now, GM is serving up several early concept drawings that show the design genesis of these battery-driven workhorses.

Early concept images of the BrightDrop delivery van.

The images were recently posted to social media on the official GM Design (@generalmotorsdesign) Instagram feed, and include a number of different takes on the all-electric BrightDrop delivery vehicle. Interestingly, the sketches include a logo in the top left corner that reads “EBOX,” indicating that the project was likely named EBOX prior to adopting the BrightDrop EV600 and BrightDrop EV410 names. Now, after some rebranding and a move to Chevrolet, the vans will be known as the Chevy BrightDrop 400 and Chevy BrightDrop 600.

The designs emphasize clean lines and smooth surfaces, with aerodynamic shapes to improve efficiency. The front end is minimalistic, featuring slim LED headlights, a wide black grille section, and a steeply raked windshield for better visibility. Logos like “Parcel Co.” on the sides suggest branding space for delivery companies. The wheels are large and stylized, giving the van a modern, high-tech look.

Multiple design sets are provided, showing a multitude of different angles. The sides of the van are flat and clean, perfect for accommodating cargo and providing ample space for advertising. The rear view shows vertical tail lights integrated into the corners and a tall cargo door for easy access. The design avoids unnecessary details, prioritizing simplicity, aerodynamics, and maximum cargo space.

As GM Authority covered late in August, the BrightDrop commercial brands will be offered under the Chevrolet brand starting with the 2025 model year. Back in March, GM Authority was the first to suggest that GM may fold the BrightDrop vehicles into Chevy.

  1. Understand that it is norma designers to do exercises… did mine at SPD during my Italy Kilan studies in 1996 and made several Vans too, it is called “Expensive Collective Van” … however it does not matter which exercises of forms are, the vans which come to reality is the same boxes
