General Motors has announced a series of updates for the 2024 GMC Sierra EV Denali Edition 1, including a lower price and higher range-per-charge estimate. The updates are similar to those applied to the Chevy Silverado EV RST First Edition. What’s more, GM has announced higher tow and payload ratings for the all-electric Sierra pickup.
Back in October of 2022, GM announced that the GMC Sierra EV Denali Edition 1 would carry an estimated price tag of $107,000, excluding destination freight charge (DFC). Now, however, The General states that the GMC Sierra EV Denali Edition 1 starts at $99,495, including $1,995 for DFC, a price reduction of approximately $9,500.
In addition to the price cut, GM has boosted the range-per-charge estimate for the GMC Sierra EV Denali Edition 1. Previously estimated at 400 miles per charge, the all-electric pickup now offers a GM-estimated range of 440 miles, a 10-percent increase. Further updates were announced for towing and payload capacities. The GMC Sierra EV Denali Edition 1 towing capacity is now rated at a maximum of 10,000 pounds, an increase of 500 pounds compared to initial estimates, while payload capacity has increased to 1,450 pounds, an increase of 150 pounds compared to initial estimates.
Providing the motivation are GM Ultium batteries and GM Ultium Drive motors delivering up to 754 horsepower and 785 pound-feet of torque in Max Power mode. The all-electric propulsion system also supports quick-charge capabilities, with up to 100 miles of range replenished in about 10 minutes using a 350kW fast charger. The GM BT1 platform provides the underpinnings.
Deliveries of the Sierra EV Denali Edition 1 are expected to commence this Summer. Dealers began taking orders last month.

My local dealer has Hummer EV’s and Lyriq’s stacking up. It won’t be long before these join in. The market for these is way smaller than GM ever imagined. Starting to think this the plan for eliminating dealers. Bankrupt them instead of buying them out.
They just bought out a bunch of Buick dealers over the last year who wanted nothing to do with the dealer infrastructure investment for Buick specific EV showroom/building stuff. I know of a few Chevrolet-Buick dealers that are now just Chevrolet dealers because of this. Its not that the shop didn’t have the equipment to work on the EVs, its the sales side they wanted nothing to do with (brand requirements).
All GM dealers had to make a large investment into fast chargers for EV’s. No dealer east of Colorado will ever see a return on their investment. It’s a freaking pipe dream!
It seems it has always been a bugaboo with Dealerships to have Unreasonable demands from the Corporation to do changes….I don’t see a need for fast charging facilities other than a really tiny unit to check an EV’s fast charging facility, but that is it.
For what its worth, Cars that are loaned out that are not returned with the same state of charge as when left will be fined by the dealerships, same as they are with inadequate gas in an ICE vehicle return…. So for Profit Center operations such as this – they can get some productive use out of their fast charger investment…
FORD has had to back off their ridiculous requirement that FORD-Lincoln combined dealership had to install one set of FORD branded chargers and ANOTHER set of Lincoln Branded chargers… That idea was just ridiculously burdensome and it was obvious why FORD was forced to drop it.
$100k for limited charging here in Midwest. Pathetic range for using it as a truck when towing.
My drive to my lake house takes my family 2 hours and 10 minutes towing my boat. This would take me over 5 hours because I couldn’t make it towing my boat on one charge. Have to wait 2-3 hours to charge, then on my way again. All for your very low price of $100K!! Twice as much as my FIRST HOUSE I bought with 2 acres of land. People are insane for paying these prices. I’ll just keep my 2018 6.2L Denali with only 46k on it.
You’ve put 46k miles on in 6 years? This would be the perfect truck for you as you would always charge at home.
So 150 miles max to your cabin? You’d have plenty of mileage remaining once you arrived.
Reality is, you don’t need a truck. Leave the boat at the cabin year round and save yourself a ton of money by selling the truck since you’re so concerned about the cost.

Motor trends long term testing of the Furd Lightning while towing had a range of 92 miles. So yes I would need to recharge. And 80k or 100k for a truck that doesn’t do truck like things like an ICE truck does is down right terrible
You just don’t need a new truck, period, as per your posting. So why are you berating other people who are looking for different options and can afford the extra cost? Why the people who are against the EV purchasing are thinking that the people buying the EV’s are less informed or foolish with their spending.
You are not in any position to educate anybody. As for the “libs” showing these EVs down our throats” you have it wrong again. You have the choice to buy whatever you like. GM is selling some of the best ICE trucks in massive numbers and it is not going to stop. It is just offering you an alternative.
And to blame the country’s situation on some shifts in the auto industry is showing that you need to educate yourself and broaden your perspective on the whole world current challenges.
Hmm, not bright enough to understand that an F150 Lightning is a completely different product than a Silverado EV? Towing tests are showing the Silverado far exceeds the range on other EV trucks.
Additionally, the article clearly calls out the Silverado EV can add 100 miles of range in 10 minutes. I guess reading isn’t your strong suit either.
Instead of suggesting others get educated, maybe concern yourself with your own personal education.

2 hours and ten minutes, so roughly 100 miles averaging 50mph. TFL was able to go 230 miles towing 6k lbs in Colorado towing a brick box. Pretty sure your aero dynamic boat in flatter midwest can go 100 miles. Shoot, should be able to go there and back on a single charge.
Now price, I can understand. That is a lot of coin. But figure 85k for a regular Denali (not the first addition) I am guessing, that is only about 10k more than your truck inflation adjusted today with a ton more features. A 60k truck in 2018 is 75k today. Things are just more expensive today and this isn’t totally out of line. Range isn’t bad and has been testing well with the Silverado.
Utter waste of money and resources. If you need a truck you aren’t buying this. And if you don’t need a truck you’re an ignorant fool to buy this.
Throw a 6.2 gas engine and transmission in it and I’ll gladly purchase 1 , looks like nicely updated Avalanche .
Make this as a midsize with 350+ miles of range and sell it for 50k and I’m in. 100k pickup trucks make no sense.
