American businessman Malcolm Bricklin is back with a new project, and this time around, it’s a fully electric vehicle. Called the Bricklin 3EV, this three-wheel, two-passenger car was designed with zero emissions in mind and boasts a projected retail cost of between $28,980 and $38,980.
It’s worth noting that no specifics have been provided on the 3EV’s all-electric powertrain. However, Bricklin’s company, Visionary Vehicles, stated it’s that it’s supplied by American-based companies, while promising a driving range of more than 275 miles on full charge. It further indicates that owners will “enjoy an exhilarating, luxurious driving experience at an affordable price.” The 3EV allegedly rides on a 106.3-inch wheelbase while its body is 183.6 inches long and 80 inches wide.
The Bricklin 3EV’s cabin is said to feature head-up display, over-the-air software updates, climate control, power-adjustable and heated seats and a premium sound system, along with wood accenting. Interestingly, there seems to be quite a few General Motors goodies sprinkled all throughout the electric vehicle, including GM electronics, a Bolt EV / Bolt EUV driver instrument cluster, a GM infotainment system, a Corvette gear selector and a GM steering wheel.
While the Bricklin 3EV would be a direct competitor to the most affordable electric vehicles on the market, including the Chevy Equinox EV and the upcoming 2026 Chevy Bolt EV, none of them obviously features a three-wheeled drivetrain layout. Beyond that, the exterior design of the Bricklin 3EV will supposedly be altered after every 50,000 units produced”to enhance resale value.” An upgraded 3EVX variant is also promised with greater range, more power and an additional luxury features.
As background on Visionary Vehicles itself, the company was initially intended to be the North American distributor of the Chinese-based Chery automobile company. This initiative was cut off in 2006 after Chery allegedly used this agreement to enter the U.S. market and then backed out.
The idea behind this relationship was to introduce vehicles that were competitive with German brands, yet priced like mainstream Japanese products. The starting lineup would’ve consisted of a mid-size car, a coupe, and a crossover, with a bespoke lineup of FWD offerings to follow suit later on. The company then planned to introduce the Bricklin EVX/LS, a plug-in hybrid five-passenger sedan with a $35,000 price tag. Neither venture came to fruition.
As for the Bricklin 3EV, no timeline has been set for its official launch, but Visionary Vehicles has seemingly been working on its development since 2017.

Well… I like the steering wheel…
Watch your head getting in or out.
I’m sure the parts are all from the Bolt. I see Bolt vents, the gear selector is from the Bolt and not Corvette. The infotainment is from the Bolt. Door handle portion is from the Bolt. I’m sure the window switch is from the Bolt as well. Instrument cluster that’s for sure from the Bolt. It’s essentially a modified Chevrolet Bolt EUV
Looks like they stole the front fascia from Pontiac.
I sat in this last month at Malcolms 85th Birthday party in Melbourne, FL
I like the looks…..make it do a 10 second 140 mph quarter and I’m interested.
Why do you want (certainly don’t need) a 10 second 140 mph quarter? You’d probably kill yourself the first time you tried it. Idiocy!
I didn’t say I needed it, I just said that I might buy one if it were a high performance model. I’ll be 80 in a few months and I am finally to the time in my life that I can afford to buy some things that I want, but don’t need. I’m going out on a limb here and say that most people with an empty nest and money in the bank have things that they don’t need just to make life more comfortable or more fun. Idiocy, maybe, but it’s a big fun club to be in and I’m guessing you are in it too.
Kill myself?…When my time comes, I hope it’s because my parachute didn’t open or I fell out of the boat trying to land a Marlin and not because my relatives decided to pull the plug.
Herb….I don’t know you but if you are getting by on just on the things you need, you likely have a very sad life and I feel sorry for you. Think about getting yourself a Harley, meet some new people, have some fun. If you do, you won’t have time to tell other people what they need or how to live their life.
