The all-new 2024 Chevy Traverse utilizes GM’s new Global B electronic architecture, GM Authority Executive Editor, Alex Luft, confirmed with engineers at the 2023 North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
Here’s a close look at what GM’s latest electronic “nervous system” brings to the 2024 Chevy Traverse.
The Global B architecture offers some key advantages for the 2024 Chevy Traverse and other vehicles equipped with it. First off, the system providers greater processing power compared to its predecessor, loosely named within GM as Global A. This greater processing power helps deliver high-tech features such as infotainment with crisp, clear graphics, smooth animations and transitions, plus a myriad of other useful tech functions. With Global B, a vehicle’s electronic systems are able to communicate faster and with higher bandwidth, resulting in better integration.
Furthermore, Global B enables over-the-air (OTA) updates to the software of the 2024 Chevy Traverse, rather than requiring the (potential) hassle of going to the dealership for updates. Various systems and features, such as GM Super Cruise, can be regularly updated or patched OTA to extend coverage, improve a feature, or address cybersecurity concerns. The vehicle’s built-in wireless web connection makes the process quick and painless.
While Global B and its OTA updates offer undeniable benefits, some models have experienced a few teething issues with the new system. Failed OTA updates have kept the infotainment systems of some 2023 Chevy Colorado and 2023 GMC Canyon pickups active long enough to drain the batteries in affected trucks.
As a reminder, the 2024 Chevy Traverse introduces the third generation of the Bow Tie crossover nameplate with numerous updates, starting with new and aggressive styling providing “a rugged, ready-for-anything presence.” The cockpit gets a 17.7-inch diagonal color infotainment touchscreen equipped as standard on all trims, along with a redesigned steering wheel, increased interior space and ergonomics, new colorways, and higher-quality materials.
GM also debuted major changes under the hood for the 2024 Chevy Traverse, ousting the previously equipped naturally aspirated 3.6L V6 LFY gasoline engine (which made 310 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque) in favor of the turbocharged 2.5L I4 LK0 gasoline engine. The LK0 engine offers more power than initially expected, cranking out 328 horsepower and 326 pound-feet of torque.
GM also revised the trim level lineup for the 2024 Chevy Traverse, dropping the range-topping Premier and High Country trims (as GM Authority reported first) while adding the off-road focused Z71 trim, which it expects to draw more male customers to the nameplate. It’s worth noting that both Premier and High Country are expected to make a comeback in subsequent model years, per another GM Authority exclusive.
Production of the vehicle is expected to kick off late in December 2023, with the new third-generation Traverse set to roll off the assembly line at the GM Lansing Delta Township plant in Michigan.

If you want to draw more male customers, leave the V6 in it.
I am a man, I want more power. Give me the turbo four over an NA 6 any day. Any normal man will buy based on performance and specs, nice try though; always a good laugh at uninformed image conscious people…
If you want to draw down more batteries, leave the Global B in it.
Global “B” = Global “Battery Drain”
Here come LOTS and LOTS of dead batteries. Not-yet-ready-for-prime-time tech. Typical of all vehicle manufacturers these days. “Don;t worry if we screw the customers”.
still referring to this new vehicle architecture as Global B. Isn’t it now known and properly described as Vehicle Intelligence Platform. Or did this change again as well.

when will the 2024 traverse be released to USA ?
Just hope the new 4 cylinder engine gets great gas mileage. when we hear the word 4 cylinder, we want great fuel economy first and foremost. Good horsepower and torque is also nice, but there better be a nice improvement in fuel ecomony or leace the 3.6 in it.
It wont, its a 2.5L Turbo powering a heavy vehicle.
It will get good mileage in testing on a dyno, but will suck in real life since that little turbo will have to suck a ton of gas to overcome Newton’s 1st law: a body at rest wants to stay at rest! That is the problem will all these government rules: Made by lawyers and marketing majors instead of engineers and physicist! Then we have to pay for it. I have 2023 Enclave with the v6, and 2023 CT-4 with a Turbo 4. Guess which one gets better gas millage? Yes, the larger heaver V6 Enclave! Despite the fact the window stickers say the CT-4 gets twice the gas mileage as the Enclave.
Just drop in the Cadillac Blackwing engine in between the fenders. Now Traverse buyers can have power they deserve.
Oh boy, OTA updates. Dead batteries for all!
This 2024 model has finally ruined the magnificent 2018 2nd generation design. It’s an overkill in most aspects. Ultra unnecessary features in the name of modernism. It’s fake modernism! Should have kept it real, solid and graceful.
A 2.4 liter engine will be stressed out enough pulling a heavy vehicle like the Traverse. The turbo, when used, will only compound the problem. Still doubtful? — ask any engineer!
