Back in February 2023, GM Authority spy photographers captured our first live look at the upcoming 2024 Chevy Equinox EV testing out in the wild. Since then, we’ve spotted a Black 3RS unit, and now, our photographers have captured another 2024 Equinox EV 3RS example painted in Summit White. With all of this in mind, today we’re taking a closer look in the following GM Authority Live Photo Gallery.
This particular unit is configured as a sporty 3RS model, and painted in Summit White (color code GAZ). Notably, this 2024 Equinox EV appears to be very close to production-spec.
Up front, we can clearly see the sharp front fascia design, which features a thin lighting arrangement and a Chevy Bow Tie logo mounted front-and-center. Below that, the faux grille is finished in black.
Moving around to the side of the all-electric crossover, we see white-painted mirror caps, flush-mounted door handles, and a black-painted roof antenna fin. While the black wheels indicate that this is indeed a 3RS model, this particular unit doesn’t feature the optional RS-exclusive black-painted roof.
Out back, the sharp aesthetic from the front fascia carries over, with a rear lighting arrangement that stretches from coast-to-coast.
As a reminder, the 2024 Chevy Equinox EV will be available in a slew of trim levels, including the LT, 2LT, 3LT, 2RS, and 3RS. Range and power outputs will vary depending on the trim level and drivetrain selected, with FWD models developing 210 horsepower and 242 pound-feet of torque and boasting up to a 300-mile range on a full charge. Meanwhile, AWD models will feature an output rating of 290 horsepower and 346 pound-feet of torque, and up to 280 miles from a full charge.
Under the skin, the Equinox EV rides on the GM BEV3 platform, and utilizes Ultium battery and Ultium Drive motor technologies for motivation. Production is set to kick off later this year at the GM Ramos Arizpe plant in Mexico, with a limited-edition 2RS model currently planned to launch first.

Is it just me or is this just so boring? I do hope it looks better in person (yawn)…
Why GM, why? You had an opportunity to knock it out of the park.
Better looking than the ICE Equinox.
It’s not just you, it’s the lack of definition in the headlights that make the overall appearance a snooze along with this same approach appearing in just about all the other SUV’S and Crossovers in their portfolio.
It’s suppose to be boring, it will be many people’s first EV and they probably didn’t want some trendy weird design. I believe it still has physicals buttons for climate and audio as well, not touch screen.
Part of the issue is the black wheels. This fad needs to be over, black wheels have their place but it should be an option not a default rim on the RS. Design wise black rims are awful; no depth, no definition, just empty wheel wells. They sometimes look good up close standing next to a vehicle but step back and they disappear. Just look at the images above, nothing but black where you should see a defined wheel. I’ll give a pass for carbon fiber but even those disappear at a distance.
The RS trim IS an option. If you don’t like the dark rims and dark interior, then get the LT trim with the polished aluminium rims and lighter interior colour options. Other than the flat bottom steering wheel, everything else about the RS is just aesthetics.
Now that looks like an EV I want to buy… Not a turtle hump Tesla lol! A Rivian EV truck was behind me the other day while neat looking from the front I saw the side of it and it’s smaller then the Silverado EV not much of a bed at all you’d think with the extra space you can have a bigger bed heck make the body out of lighter weight material to help offset the battery weight a little…. I imagine Evs will get better as time goes on hopefully they get lighter because they are really heavy. I mean that GMC HUMMER thing puts 1970s Cadillac Seedans weight to shame 😂!
seems the blazer ev reservation system is full per the reservation website
Jaxon… BORING!!!! I like the clean lines and in other colors it looks better don’t judge by pictures I did that with my current Equinox then went to look at one and looks better in person… And also it’s s small SUV these people usually don’t want to showoffs that much.
Not usually into white cars, but this looks pretty good.
GM has an impressive start with EV’s so far. They are far ahead of anyone else except for Tesla. I like smaller cars and hope to see an EV Trax with AWD someday.
I would say they are pretty far behind Kia / Hyundai still. They have a pretty good selection of EV’s with some like the Niro and Kona now on their 2nd generation. They also have several PHEV’s for those who may not have good charging options during their trips, GM had the Volt but dropped it a few years ago.
Bob J…. Really Hyundai and the volt… Ok granted Hyundai has EVs and whatever the hell a PHV IS but they just a massive battery recall for fires. The volt while a good idea was hybrid I want either gas or electric only and the volt for it’s time wa like $40,000-$45,000 Dollars and there wasn’t much room in it… IMO what’s the point of a hybrid if I still have to change oil and get gas, maintain a transmission, I know extra power ok anyway I honestly think this equinox will sell well for Chevy I like it and I see some good comments on here about it.
the major recall was for ICE (gas) vehicles from last year. not BEV
PHEV is like the Chevy Volt. Hybrid you can plug in if you want. Best of both worlds but somehow or other they’ve seemingly had trouble marketing that idea.
With pure EV there is no need for hybrids even Toyota is starting to see the light and designing pure EV vehicles people don’t want an EV and have to maintain a gas engine and they are more expensive to build as well and they (hybrids) are expensive to buy
Politely disagree, they’re lighter and cheaper than EVs by some margin. I think within 5-10 years (or whenever solid state cells become common and affordable) that’ll be the case though.
For many they were a good way to get a commute on EV power without needing to spend the additional thousands for hundreds of miles of extra range, or have to compromise with a sub-par maximum range in the 150 area like the Ioniq EV or Spark EV offered.
I certainly think the use case is diminishing but equally that the underwhelming sales were more due to lack of understanding than any failure
I’ve even seen them described a cars you “have to charge and fill” rather than being a hybrid you can charge
well see, can you identify one of the top 10 cars sold i the Us?
can you Model Y?
oh and the cheaper thing? have you looked for any SUV on GM dealerships lot? or any body Elses?
new car prices have gone up substantially in the last 3 years
try to buy a Maverick? you will likely end up paying 39k – 44k for one if you can find one
This looks great to me. I would definitely spec it with a black roof though. The all white look is a little boring, it needs something to break it up. The body style looks great though. My main concern with these new EVs is reliability and how long they will last. We are also going to have an enormous shortage of technicians who can actually work on them. I have a feeling if they have a problem that actually needs to have some troubleshooting done you could easily be stuck waiting months for it to be fixed. GM is probably going to put their technicians through an 8 hour online training class and expect them to be able to fix anything on their new EVs
Chevy EV reliability has been stellar!
except for the Bolt fires . . .
well lets see just how many Bolt fires were there?
and how many Bolts were manufactured and sold?
well the answer to the 2nd question was about 140,000 (pre 2021)
and the answer the 1st? less than 20
so how many gas powered cars went up in smoke last year alone?
approximately 5000-10000”
Looks awesome to me. Especially considering the price point. The Model Y is more expensive and looks like a hunchback. This looks far far better.
I’ll give you that…
I’m sure it will have better ride quality too!
the Model Y price has been declining, so its price and the Blazer EV will be very close in price.
Expect the top spec Equinox 3RS to cost more than the Model Y LR. GM only provided estimated pricing last year and look how much the base Silverado EV WT doubled in price from 40k to 79k.
I don’t care for the white color but it does look really nice otherwise.
Tesla killer. This and the Blazer will definitely be the volume EVs for GM.
Yep agreed! GM’s going to sell a bunch of these things, probably even more so than Bolt EUV sales. Of course knowing GM they are going to hobble its performance to ‘match’ its price point in the market lol.
Here we go again – this won’t age well. Let’s revisit this ‘Tesla Killer’ statement next year when GM possibly begins scaling the Blaver EV up to 200 a quarter with some sort of logistical, rail car, delivery truck or chip shortage excuse holding them back. GM has not demonstrated the slightest ability to scale a BEV with its Ultium packs, its BEV flag bearer is the old tech (still LG Chem), soon to be discontinued, Bolt. GM will lose their @ss on these unless they sell 150-200k annually. Well at least they are way ahead of Stellantis and Ford, but still miles behind Tesla.
i sure hope so. GM needs a model that most people can afford to buy, and it might help the Equinox get to that point.
Evo69… Why does everything need PERFORMANCE? it’s an SUV for the love of Pete…. If this thing had 250HP it would be enough for most people! Besides you want performance there’s the Blazer SS EV! The Equinox has never been a performance machine.
With the average household income of our nation in the low to mid 50k, and interest rates on the rise, who do you think can afford a car or truck nowadays?
