The check that The General intends to send to affected buyers is for $795 according to available information, meaning that they were likely double-charged for one of the following options available for the 2023 Chevy Silverado HD:

  • 6-inch rectangular chromed assist steps (RPO code BVQ)
  • 6-inch rectangular Black tubular assist steps, LPO (RPO code RVQ)

The 6-inch rectangular chromed assist steps (BVQ) are a factory-installed feature that is available as a $795 option on the LT and LTZ trim levels of the 2023 Chevy Silverado HD. These steps are equipped as standard on the High Country trim.

Meanwhile, the 6-inch rectangular Black tubular assist steps (RVQ) are an LPO or dealer-installed step option, also priced at $795, available for the Chevy Silverado HD truck’s WT and Custom trim levels.

The 2023 Chevy Silverado HD is the final model year of the nameplate’s current fourth generation before the refresh introduced with 2024 model. While it continues to draw criticism for its styling, it ranks as one of GM’s best-selling models, though 79 percent of GM Authority readers prefer the aesthetic “fix” introduced with the 2024 Chevy Silverado HD.

The 2024 Chevy Silverado HD saw its start of regular production (SORP) arrive in March 2023, and is currently available at Bow Tie dealerships across the U.S. The fastest-turning trim levels for the model year – those that spend the shortest time on dealer lots before selling – are the Custom and LT trims, positioned in the middle of the truck’s trim lineup.

In addition to an exterior overhaul and interior refresh, the 2024 model year debuted the Silverado HD ZR2, a high-performance variant focused on off-road capability. The ZR2 offers a 1.5-inch suspension lift, Multimatic DSSV dampers, a bigger steel transfer case skid plate, a front aluminum skid plate, a rear locker, and 18-inch aluminum wheels with 35-inch Goodyear Wrangler Territory MT tires, alongside other performance and aesthetic features.

All trim levels of the 2024 Chevy Silverado HD are motivated as standard with the naturally aspirated 6.6L V8 L8T gasoline engine, rated at 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque. The 6.6L V8 L5P turbodiesel Duramax engine, now uprated to 470 horsepower and 975 pound-feet of torque for the mid-cycle refresh, can be optionally ordered. Both engines are mated to the Allison-branded 10-speed automatic as standard.
