General Motors has just announced that its new The Durant Guild import vehicle platform in China will make its first global appearance next month at the 2022 China International Import Expo (CIIE), bringing the all-new 2024 Cadillac Celestiq ultra-luxury sedan to the event.
The automaker’s new business unit in China announced its participation in the upcoming CIIE 2022, which opens its doors next week, with a collection of iconic American vehicles headlined by the debut of the Cadillac Celestiq. In addition, The Durant Guild platform will also present the new GMC Hummer EV SUV and the 2023 Chevy Corvette Z06 for the first time at said exhibition.
“All three products appearing at CIIE are highly desirable and represent General Motors’ innovation in the ultra-luxury, performance all-electric full-size SUV and supercar segments,” said President and Managing Director of The Durant Guild, Felix Weller. “We learned at CIIE in past years that Chinese consumers are looking for more exclusive, more diverse, and more premium products and high-quality service and experiences. This year, we are showing that we can deliver,” he added.
As GM Authority first highlighted in a previous report, The Durant Guild has confirmed plans to bring the all-new Cadillac Celestiq to China through its new business model, which will allow the importation of GM’s most iconic vehicles manufactured in the United States to the Asian country. Cadillac’s stunning new flagship will be built by hand exclusively at GM’s Global Technical Center in Warren, Michigan.
In fact, the Cadillac Celestiq EV will be the main star of China’s biggest imported vehicle exhibition, where it will stand out by setting a new global standard in the automotive industry as the world’s first fully electric ultra-luxury sedan. As a very low-volume halo model, the Celestiq will play a pivotal role in elevating Cadillac’s image to new levels of competitiveness in its largest market and the rest of the world.
The Durant Guild platform will show the all-new Cadillac Celestiq in China for the first time alongside the Hummer EV SUV and Corvette Z06 during the upcoming CIIE 2022, which will be open to the public from November 5th to the 10th at the Shanghai National Convention & Exhibition Center. In addition to those three lifestyle products, The Durant Guild’s booth will feature The Durant Studio, an exhibition of the origin and history of the platform.

Is it just me, or does the C pillar on the Celestiq look similar to an XJS Jaguar (just saying) Not sure about the overall styling, pretty cool; but just to much ass!
Compared to current auto designs, there is more length behind the rear wheels. However, look back to the 50s and 60s at the lengths the hung off the rear wheels. The Celestiq is small in comparison.
Think of the Celestiq as a new direction for Cadillac. It’s daring and very different. Will this start a new design trend that will be copied into the next decade? Or will it die with this model. Only time will tell.
There should be a disclaimer on the Hummer EV photo? “Do not drive through water as shown, water may leak into battery pack, see your dealer for recall…..”
The Celestiq will definitely be a must-have In Hollywood.
