Here Is The 2024 Chevy Silverado HD

GM just unveiled the refreshed 2024 Chevy Silverado HD, revealing new exterior styling, an overhauled interior space, new tech features, and upgrades to the powertrain lineup, as well as the new Silverado HD ZR2.

The 2024 Chevy Silverado HD is once again offered in 2500HD and 3500HD configurations, as well as Regular Cab, Double Cab, and Crew Cab body styles. Refreshed 2024 Chevy Silverado 3500HD models also offer dual-rear-wheel configurations and trailering capacity up to 36,000 pounds, while max tow ratings for the Silverado 2500HD increase from 18,510 to 22,500 pounds.

The trim level lineup includes Work Truck, Custom, LT, LTZ, and High Country, while the new Chevy Silverado HD ZR2 will join the lineup later in the model year. Customers can also opt for a wealth of packages and special edition models, including the Z71 Sport Edition, Z71 Chrome Sport Edition, Midnight Special Edition, and Alaskan Snow Plow Special Edition.

Under the hood, the 2024 Chevy Silverado HD cradles the 6.6L L8T V8 gasoline engine as standard, while the 6.6L V8 L5P turbodiesel Duramax engine is optional. The diesel engine also boasts an SAE-certified output boost to 470 horsepower and 975 pound-feet. Both the diesel engine and the gasoline engine connect to the Allison-branded 10-speed automatic transmission as standard, which replaces the GM six-speed equipped by gasoline-powered models previously.

As for exterior, the 2024 Chevy Silverado HD announces its arrival with a new front fascia, headlights, and grille, with C-shaped LED lighting signatures that draw inspiration from the refreshed Chevy Silverado 1500. Tow hooks are now standard across the range, while customers can choose from six new exterior colors, including Sterling Gray, Dark Ash, Radiant Red, Auburn Metallic, Lakeshore Blue Metallic, and Meteorite Metallic. Note that Lakeshore Blue Metallic and Meteorite Metallic both have late availability. New wheel and tire options are also on the table.

Inside, we find an overhauled interior design for LT trims and above. Standout features include an all-new 13.4-inch diagonal infotainment screen and 12.3-inch diagonal configurable driver information center. Tech standouts also include new and enhanced trailering features, such as Adaptive Cruise Control with Trailer, Enhanced Transparent Trailer, Trailer Side Blind Zone Alert, and GCW Alert.

The 2024 Chevy Silverado HD will make its big public debut at the State Fair of Texas on September 29th. Production kicks off in the first half of the 2023 calendar year at the GM Flint Assembly plant in Michigan and GM Oshawa plant in Canada. Exact pricing details are expected closer to the start of production.

  1. So they just took a 2019-2021 Sierra 1500 headlight, and swapped sides? Reverse C shaped LED. haha.
I guess it looks better than the previous front end.

    1. Yeah, it looks a lot better. It’s still kind of weird, but better.

      1. Anything is better than the previous front end.

Super Duty is still the better looking truck. Except Ford squishy seats are terrible and the cheap vinyl wrap they call leather on the steering wheel is 100% intolerable.

This new interior is a winner and beats all others.

  2. Allison for the gas 🤨 don’t they mean the 10l90? Using the Allison 1100 for both would be expensive and weight down the gas engine with the Allison’s increased case thickness and excessive clutch plates.

    1. It’s the Allison 1000 isn’t it? Took GM Authority enough time to report on thiz truck, a whole day late. The new super doody is gonna be revealed at 7:30 pm et today. It’s supposed to get the 6.8.

  3. It’s not terrible, but its not great either. It’s just Meh.

  4. Looks so much better than the current HD in my opinion.

Quick Question if anyone knows….When will GM show the GMC Sierra EV

    Reply
    1. The Sierra EV was supposed to have been introduced this past April, I Googled that truck a couple of months ago and in my opinion, it’s already looking quite dated, I can’t say that I got excited by what I saw, overall, the Silverado EV looks far more sleeker.

    2. GM says they will reveal the Sierra EV by year’s end

  5. can not differentiate..

    Reply
    1. Differentiate what?
Anyone can differentiate this from the previous trucks, as this one only appears to have a single front end, and not two stacked on top of each other.
It’s an enormous improvement that anyone can see.

      1. sorry to be blind not seeing this told by you improvement

        1. The only way you wouldn’t see a difference is if you didn’t look at all.

          1. well, opened the picture of the
            2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
            but compared 5 times and 95 %
the same, maybe got old or all
in black, couldn’t see what was
maybe the version 2021 was Ok

            Reply
            1. Well that also doesn’t make any sense.
              This isn’t a 1500.

  6. Interior is without question better than the outgoing 2500/3500. Torque ratings are interesting, I would have thought the 1000 mark would have been broke. Adaptive cruise control is a nice add.

    Reply
  7. Since GMA didn’t post the current Duramax 6.6L power figures to compare, so I will.
    Horsepower: 445 HP
    Torque: 910 lb.-ft.

It is a far cry from the 500+Hp and 1050+Ft-lbs that many were swearing was coming. That’s right up there with the LT2 powered Camaro for 2023 B.S. too.

It makes sense to hold back on power, because aren’t Silverados 1500 getting a redo in calendar 2025?

  8. See the column shifter GM? Put that back on the GM trucks across the board and get rid of that stupid waste of space floor shifter.

  9. The gasser needed more gear since day 1. I hope it still has the 3.73 with the 10 speed and they didn’t pull a GM and move to 3.42.

  10. Also those that complain about the mirrors not looking “pretty” enough, you can see why it is good in the bottom interior picture, look at how much of the blind space is eliminated. Function > Aesthetics

    1. Those mirrors look like total @ss. I don’t care if they drive the truck for you, they look HORRIBLE!!!

      Reply
      1. Yeah, they look like trailering mirrors.
        For getting stuff done.
        It’s an HD truck.

        1. Mirrors are the most important thing on the exterior of a truck, right up there with lighting. Speaking from 47 years of driving experience.

          1. And tires

            Reply
      2. Tell us you have no need for a truck without actually telling us. A truck is a tool and those mirrors make it a safer tool…

  11. Just another let down from GM!!! Great job old Mary!!

Huge let down from the so called “rumored” 500 HP and over 1000 FT LBS of TQ………Also, the gas gets absolutely no update on HP/TQ gains?!?! What the H@LL is GM thinking here. GM was known for its small block V8’s and they haven’t done SQUAT with this 6.6L gas motor or anything in their Half-ton V8’s since 2014. So disappointing!

Oh, don’t get me started on the Camaro and how it needs a major HP/TQ increase!!! SMFH…..

    Reply
    1. Oh geez. Cry about it.

      Reply
      1. Not crying ol’ chucky!! Just pointing out the reality of GM tanking it! Ford just unveiled their new truck and upped HP/TQ in both older engines, and also offered a brand new 6.8L.

    2. It’s all on you just add a high rise and 3/4 race cam, just like back-in-the day.

  12. Looks a lot better imo but still needs work. Just don’t look fresh, kinda favoring the Sierra 1500 AT4. Interior definitely looks better. Heading in the right direction just needs more. Would be nice to see a tough aggressive look come back to the front ends of the trucks.

  14. Need to see the gvwr values, payload ratings, full ratings for conventional and 5th wheel towing, and if tires have been redeveloped. 22500 trailer on a 2500 model smells a little fishy right now when the current trailer ratings on those versions were limited by payload available to haul the tongue load, and handling, not powertrain. Could be another case of increase the gvwr to meet emission regulations since there are new federal standards for 2024.

  15. I like it. The nose is a massive improvement over what they have currently. Interior is what we all expected. Glad they are finally adding adaptive cruise to the HDs after making BS excuses for its omission in 2020.

  16. It would be nice to see GM reveal more than just the High Country trim. Sure, its a nice truck but few people can actually afford it. Since now every trim level has a unique grille it would be nice to see what the other trims will look like.

    1. Yeah, they can keep that fancy floor console, I need that bare transmission hump to lay my work gloves on in the winter. The heater blows right on them to keep them warm and dry! Used to set my big coffee mug there too, by the shifter, way back in the day before cup holders. These trucks have come a long way from granny-gear 4-speeds and steel door panels and dashboards!

  17. Now that’s how you design an interior. Best in class integration of the instrument cluster/screen with the rest of the dash. Well done.

  19. Too bad that GM can´t walk the full line to +500 hp. GM is now still struggling behind the two others. A shift in blockmaterial would have med it possible

  20. When is GMC going to start shipping orders out? Our truck was built 8/15 and hasn’t left the plant. Customer Service is a joke.

  21. BIG disappointment on the HP and Torque for the duramax.

  22. Good looking vehicle, but is anybody disturbed at the fact that they’re releasing teasers on the ’24 when there are still customers waiting on ’22s that were ordered back in ’21? I like the ’24 so much so that I’m already disappointed with my ’23 that I ordered in May and is scheduled for production this week. LOL

  23. I am really disappointed by the new HD hp and lb,ft ratings. The redesign front-end makes this the best-looking HD trucks by quite some distance. However, GM powertrain engineers are the worse in the DAMN business.

How on earth can you promise people over 500 hp and 1080 lb,ft on these refresh trucks and fall way below that figure. The 3.0 I-6 Duramax power upgrade was respectable, this upgrade for the 6.6 was truly pathetic!

  24. Allison(ish) 10-speed transmission on this L8T gas engine is a big difference. That’s enough to delay my 2023 order a few months to get the 2024. The six speed ratios were just a tiny bit too far apart for my workloads. 70% of my operation is unloaded, so 87 Octane is the right fuel choice.

I do not care how it looks; never have. Anything GM puts on it that doesn’t work well, I replace with something that does. I’ve been moving my same liftgate to new trucks since 1986. Just a bit of paint touchup, looks new. New seals, fluid, and battery, works like new. I do like all the better functionality safety options.

  25. Are they finally going to do away with the wax coating on the frames and e-coat like ford and dodge?

    Reply
  26. Interior looks really good. My only issue is whether they changed the seats. The current GM seats are awfully uncomfortable for any drive longer then an hour. It looks like the seats are the same and if they are I may be crossing over to Ford for the first time in my life.
