2023 Corvette Z06 Carbon Aero Packages Under Heavy Constraint

The 2023 Chevy Corvette Z06 debuts the next level of performance for the mid-engine C8, offering a new V8 powerplant, widebody styling, and a whole lot more compared to the Chevy Corvette C8 Stingray. Now, GM Authority has learned that the 2023 Corvette Z06 Carbon Aero packages are currently under heavy constraint.

According to GM Authority sources, the Carbon Aero packages offered for the 2023 Corvette Z06 will be constrained at just three percent for the foreseeable future. That means only three percent of GM’s initial production plans will be built.

Although GM’s original production plans are currently not known, the three-percent constraint obviously means supply will be extremely limited. Unfortunately, this constraint will also affect the Z07 Performance Package, which requires that buyers equip one of the two factory Carbon Aero packages. As a result, the Z07 Performance Package will also be under heavy constraint.

The affected Carbon Aero packages offered for the 2023 Corvette Z06 include RPO code T0F, specifically the Carbon fiber, Carbon Flash-painted package, which bundles the high-wing, dive planes, and Carbon Flash-painted carbon ground effects (RPO code CFZ), as well as RPO code T0G, specifically the Visible carbon fiber package, which bundles the high-wing, dive planes and visible carbon ground effects (RPO code CFV).

As GM Authority covered previously, production of the 2023 Corvette Z06 in general is also heavily constrained. Per GM Authority sources, 2023 Corvette Z06 production will be constrained to just 10 percent of accepted orders due to what the automaker refers to as a plant restriction. For the time being, this constraint is applied for the entire 2023 model year, although it is possible that the constraint may change over time.

As a reminder, production of the 2023 Chevy Corvette Z06 is set to begin at the GM Bowling Green plant in Kentucky next month.

Mounted just behind the cabin, the new Corvette Z06 draws motivation from the naturally aspirated 5.5L V8 LT6 gasoline engine, rated at 670 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. Under the body panels is the GM Y2 platform.

  1. “Putting the world on Notice” by building 3% of total production (that’s approximately 600 Z06 Corvettes) that is BS!

We (the working people) have loved Corvettes because they were affordable alternatives to European supercars that are priced beyond reach for normal people.
Now that GM actually builds us a car that is a supercar they tease us and advertise to the world like they will produce it similar to the c7 generation, but then not actually produce it because of politics and CAFE restrictions (plant restrictions – not parts restrictions)
With these limited numbers only super wealthy people and friends of the dealers will get them. I submitted my money the instant it was available to order one and $thousands will sit in the dealers account for years until they ultimately decide to refund my money after making all that interest on my money – because GM won’t build the cars. I’ll never get a supercar that I can modify and build at home.
This Z06 is just another Fort GT – “putting the super wealthy on notice” , “putting the famous and youtube kids on notice”

    1. How about reading the article carefully first. In particular, words 4, 5 and 6 of the headline. Done?

The Z06 isn’t constrained. The carbon fiber tack-ons are. Not every Z06 was going to order the optional carbon fiber package, and not having carbon fiber add-ons doesn’t mean you can’t build a Z06.

In fact, it’s the total opposite of what you think. They’re likely saving carbon fiber capacity for necessary parts to make cars, like the floor and bumper, instead of optional add-ons.

Now we can see your whole post is BS.

  2. Beginning to look like a C4 style flop on the ZR1 run between the lack of production and the expense

  3. With the US being buried underneath of an enormous goods constraint AND an inflation mess, the Z06 is just one of the many casualties that we are experiencing. As a Corvette owner/enthusiast, I have been looking forward to this car for quite a while. The way that it sits as of now, it adds up to a complete and utter s**t show.

Since January of 2021, Earth’s #1 superpower has been in absolute shambles.

      1. Has the US ever been perfect? Absolutely not. There is no perfect country on planet Earth. Everybody has their faults.

With this being said, since January of 2021, US inflation has skyrocketed by 38-42% (US Dept. of Labor Statistics) and the supply chain of goods has been absolutely pummeled. We are in a very bad way.

  4. It is amazing that GM can launch a car and still can not figure out how to build it in volume, to even meet a fraction of the demand after so many years. Yet they are pouring billions into going all electric with faulty battery technology. Just read the cost of replacing the battery (29 to 34K) in a Chevy Bolt is now within 2K of the cost of a new Bolt . How is encouraging the public to buy cars that are basically disposable at all good for the environment? And given the increasing cost of electrics (again due to batteries), they are heading to a price point that the general public will not buy them in volume, not even taking into consideration the lack of infrastructure to support them. If you read GM’s new business plan, they think they will make 30 billion off software services turning in the 2030’s. Is it just me or does it seem that GM (and others) are fast tracking to bankruptcy, following the same plan as the last time, not building what the public wants? Now I am not against electric vehicles, but the technology is not there yet for the volumes these companies think they will sell. AMC was first to build a US four drive wagon, but the demand was just not there yet. Timing is everything in sales and it looks like we will see history repeat itself.

  5. General demand is dropping and inflation is having an impact on the markets. Nevertheless, GM kept coming out with their BS advertising slogan for a car they had no hope of building in decent numbers anytime soon. All C8’s should total in the mid-late 20K production annualized with at least 10% being the new Z06’s, so around 2.5-3K per year. Just disappointing, and to someone else’s point, misrepresentation.
Like many others I have a $2K deposit and it’s fine, no-one made me send it. It can sit there until I decide whether I still want the car or GM so severely tests my patience with their inordinate delays that I just cannot be bothered anymore. At which point they have lost me to the competitors for good.

  6. I used to watch the news every day and it has been so depressing it makes me angry at how our government is destroying our country. That said, I stopped watching the news. My only highlight of the day was reading the GM Authority every day to get the latest news from GM and specifically on the C8 and Z06 which I have placed a deposit. However reading the Authority the last 4 weeks is also getting me depressed, shortage of all kinds of parts, shutting down the line for a few weeks, etc. I am now going to stop reading it otherwise I am going to have to take anger management therapy. I will just wait until my dealer calls me in (2025?) to tell me my order can be placed on the Z06. When that happens, it will be a happy ending!

    1. I wouldn’t be surprised to see General Motors go out of business in a few years heavily investing in electric only not a good move I for one don’t want an electric car what happens when you have a disaster such as a hurricane which knocks out or can knock out the electric grid for weeks now you have no way to charge your battery no way you can go anywhere people aren’t thinking your answers Drive stop and charge literally for hours before you can can continue a trip where are the facilities going to be and how big do they need to be with millions of vehicles on the road it’s not really doable pipe dream more pollution from mining than drilling oil wells just think the pollution that will come from all the strip mining for the metals for batteries worldwide pollution disaster comes from the same people that claim to be environmentalist and the biggest threat to the world is environmental however the battery production will mess up the world much more than the burning fuel obviously delusional people are running things

  7. Total absolute rotting garbage🤮. They suck @$$ for being this way “without a very good reason & explanation” The one Corvette that peeked my interest, the newly designed Z06. I’ve never owned a Corvette, though from time to time over the years, some models would turn my head in admiration. The new Z06 though, with the high revving, flat plain crank engine, beautiful exhaust notes, looks and excellent performance! I definitely would so like to own one! It’s definitely my dream vehicle. The fact that they claim production of the new Z06 will be extremely limited including accessories like the areo packages is such a complete failure and let down to the hopeful and determined consumer… One day I would like to own a mid engine Z06 Corvette…
