Customers are responding positively to the new IMSA GTLM Championship C8.R Edition package for the 2022 Corvette Stingray, with almost half of the 1,000-unit production run already spoken for.
When production of the 2022 Corvette started during the week of September 6th, General Motors had already registered 412 orders for the Championship Edition. Only 1,000 of these limited-run Vettes will be produced for the 2022 model year, so nearly half of the allocation has already been spoken for so far. Order books for the 2022 Corvette Stingray opened on July 1st.
The IMSA GTLM Championship C8.R Edition was introduced on the C8 Corvette Stingray for the 2022 model year and is intended to mark Corvette Racing’s impressive 2020 IMSA GTLM championship-winning season. The special-edition model is offered via a separate equipment package for the range-topping 3LT trim level only and costs $6,595. This package is also limited to left-hand-drive markets only, which include the United States, Canada, Mexico and the Middle East, and is only available to order in either Accelerate Yellow Metallic or Hypersonic Gray Metallic. Models ordered in Accelerate Yellow receive gray contrasting graphics, while Hypersonic Gray Metallic models have yellow graphics.
In addition to the unique Corvette C8.R-inspired graphics packs, the limited-run special edition also adds the following equipment:
- High-wing spoiler finished in Carbon Flash
- Yellow brake calipers
- Black Trident design wheels, with the “Jake” logo on the center caps, and black lug nuts
- Exterior mirrors in Carbon Flash
- Black side rockers
- Black splash guards
While it may take on a race car-inspired exterior appearance, the 2022 Corvette IMSA GTLM Championship C8.R Edition sticks with the now-familiar 6.2L LT2 V8 engine, which produces 495 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque when equipped with the optional Performance Exhaust. The IMSA GTLM Championship C8.R Edition package requires the buyer to order the Z51 Performance Package, so all examples will be shipped with the Performance Exhaust.

very beautiful car
I am totally confused. I have had a deposit down on a 2022 IMSA Edition for months. The dealer said I am fourth on their list. I sent them my configuration for the order. To date, they said they still have not received their allocation so they cannot tell me if I am going to be able to get one. The above article said 412 have been ordered? There seems to be a lack of communication between the factory and dealerships. I find it hard to believe the dealership still doesn’t know how many IMSA Editions they can order.
I HAD THE SAME PROVLEM I ORDERED A 2019, I WAS TOLD I WAS 3RD IB LINE, I FINALLY REXEIVED A 2021YR MODEL AT THE ENDD OF AUGUST 2021. IT’S SAD
Thank you – the question I have for you is are you happy with your 2021 and would you buy one again?
Yes very much so.
You need to order from a large dealership. A local dealership that sells a few Corvettes a year, is very unlikely to receive any allocation for the 2022 IMSA Edition. I have placed my order for the 2020 C8.R with Kerbeck Corvette (now Ciocca Corvette), and my order was already accepted by GM for production.
So if I call Kerbeck right now I have the chance of being able to order one?
YES I AM VERY HAPPY WITH THE 2021 C-8 A LONG WAIT BUT I GUESS IT WAS WORTH IT. THANKS
I’m driving one right now . It’s awesome
