The refreshed 2022 Silverado was just caught testing on public roads in prototype form, giving us a preview of the upcoming pickup prior to its debut. This particular 2022 Silverado prototype is the base-model Work Truck, or WT, in a Regular Cab, Long Bed configuration.
These latest spy photos reveal the refreshed 2022 Chevy Silverado’s halogen headlights and new grille treatment, all of which are hidden underneath a thick layer of camouflage. Back in May, GM Authority was the first bring you camo-free images of the refreshed pickup’s front fascia, which includes deletion of the controversial “sideburn” air curtains, as well as a new grille insert with a high-mounted crossbar containing the Chevrolet branding script.
The refreshed 2022 Silverado 1500 will also come with a restyled rear end.
This particular prototype model is equipped with a set of six-spoke 17-inch wheels, specifically the 17-inch by 8-inch Bright Silver Painted aluminum wheels, tagged with RPO code Q5U. The wheels are wrapped in 255/70R17 rubber.
The primary focus of the refresh will be in the cabin, where the refreshed 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 will boast a completely overhauled interior featuring a new dash, a new center stack and larger center screen, a new center console, a new gauge cluster, and a new gear selector.
Under the skin, the refreshed 2022 Silverado will drop the naturally aspirated 4.3L V8 LV3 gasoline engine and naturally aspirated 5.3L V8 L82 gasoline engine from the model lineup, as GM Authority reported previously.
Additionally, the new ZR2 off-roading trim level will join the lineup. The new 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 ZR2 will be based on the LT Trail Boss trim level and will be equipped with the Preferred Equipment Group (PEG) 3LT. The new Silverado ZR2 will slot in above the current Silverado Trail Boss as a more-capable off-roader trim in the refreshed pickup lineup.
Look for the refreshed 2022 Silverado 1500 to debut at 4 p.m. EST on September 9th, 2021.

The base work truck interiors, for the most part, fit the bill perfectly and really don’t need a whole lot of refinement. One thing that would be a nice addition would be to bring back the under dash drawer in the bench seat configuration. Maybe even add a USB in the armrest storage area like before too. Pretty minor, but it was nice to have those two features on the old trucks.

I really hope it looks better than the last work truck, I still would like to have a regular cab long bed in an LT version with more options and larger wheels! Chevrolet messed up the regular cab after 2018!
Honestly, you’d be better served by getting the WT, and add put the 10-20K savings towards premium custom wheels, custom leather seat covers, premium bed liner with tonneau cover ETC. get one with the 5.3. The weight savings rate f a single vs crew cab make a single cab 5.3 accelerate like the crew cab 6.2.

So is the 8 speed gonna die, or is it still gonna be available on the 2.7 and 5.3? 10 speed across the board would be nice.

Looks like a typical ho-hum pickup truck to me nothing special, don’t see any interior pictures so can’t comment on that, I’m sure it’ll be a typical boring pick up that looks just like an F-150 like they all do.
Well, hopefully it looks better than the truck it’s replacing. I’d rather it was a little more “ho-hum”, as you say.

If you guys catch a new commercial by Chevy it shows the new front end in the 2022. I saw it and loved it! Definitely better than the 2019-2021 front end!

I went to YouTube and searched 2022 Silverado and it comes up with a man and his cat. But it says 2021 on the subject. I mean the headlights look different from the other years. So maybe I’m wrong.
