2022 GMC Sierra 1500 Base Trim Renamed To Sierra Pro

The base trim level for the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 Limited has been renamed Sierra Pro.

Previously, the GMC Sierra 1500 in the entry-level work truck trim was simply referred to as the “Sierra.” With this change, the base trim for the full-size pickup will be now be referred to as the Sierra Pro – likely a reference to the contractors and other professionals that typically gravitate to this entry-level trim. Just like before, the Sierra Pro is available in the Regular Cab, Double Cab and Crew Cab body configurations.

As we reported previously, this same change has been applied to the 2022 GMC Sierra HD. The entry-level variant of the Sierra HD was also previously referred to as “Sierra” and from the 2022MY onward will be referred to as Sierra Pro.

The 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 Limited is a continuation of the current 2021MY GMC Sierra 1500 and will stick with the same available models, trims and options and features. The 2022MY was originally set to introduce the mid-cycle enhancement version of the full-size pickup, but GM was forced to delay the arrival of the updated truck until later in the 2022MY or until the 2023MY. The MCE Sierra 1500 will feature revised exterior styling, an overhauled interior and will feature GM’s Super Cruise semi-autonomous driver-assist system as an option.

The 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 Limited will enter production at the GM Silao plant in Mexico on September 20th and at the GM Fort Wayne Assembly plant in Indiana a week later on September 27th.

GM is also rolling out a Chevy Silverado 1500 Limited for the 2022MY. Just like the Sierra 1500 Limited, the Silverado 1500 Limited will carry over every aspect of the 2021MY truck, including all available models, trims, options and features.

  2. Yes, RCSB pickup! Who’s going to be King? Chevy or GMC for full size sporty pickups? I hope both! My son will get the 2022 C-8 Corvette Spyder. I still want a sporty truck not a work truck. How about a 2024 C-8 Corvette RCFB (Regular Cab Flat Bed) with low fold up panels to keep premium visibility. Yes I want it all!, a premium. It could be done with a regular cab two seat Camaro too. Put a articulating Bed on it so you can drive a ATV or motorcycle on it with out ramps. Something made for motorcycles haulers who go cross country or cross town without a trailer or ramps. I think Chevrolet or GMC can do it! Seriously I think a sporty truck based vehicle with a frame that’s not too large would be great for me. I still like a V-8. A electric vehicle may be great but not sure how may driving years left I have. I am looking forward to my last great vehicle! I’m not ready for a golf cart.

  3. I’d like to see a double cab 1500 with an 8 ft bed again…very useful truck for those who use trucks for work and need cab and bed space
