The 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 Limited pickup truck will go into production in the second half of September 2021, GM Authority has learned from sources familiar with the matter.
Production will start first at the GM Silao plant in Mexico on September 20th, and at the GM Fort Wayne plant in Indiana one week later, on September 27th.
For those unaware of the situation, the existence of the 2022 Chevy Silverado Limited is due to a familiar story. As with many other GM vehicles, an update to the Silverado – by far the most popular of The General’s vehicles in the United States – has had to be delayed due to issues arising from the global COVID-19 pandemic. The truck was due to receive a comprehensive revision, otherwise known as a mid-cycle enhancement or MCE, for the 2022 model year.
This would include revised exterior styling, an overhauled cockpit and the introduction of the new Global B electronic architecture, which will allow Chevrolet to introduce the Super Cruise semi-autonomous driver assistance system.
However, the 2022 Silverado refresh has had to be pushed back, and the new model will not arrive until late in the 2022 model year. The introduction of the Silverado 1500’s corporate cousin, the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500, is also being delayed until roughly the same timeframe.
As a result, GM will introduce the 2022 Chevy Silverado Limited as a stop-gap measure until production of the refreshed 2022 Silverado can begin. Although nominally a 2022 model, the 2022 Silverado Limited is essentially a continuation of the 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500, with the same trim levels, options exterior paint colors and interior colorways. Order books will open on July 15th.

Well I was trying to wait for the updated Silverado but with this news I have no choice but to look elsewhere. I really wanted a new Silverado or Sierra but not to be I guess?
If you really want a new Silverado or a Sierra , you would wait a few months.
I have already waited 6 months so far thinking the 22 would start rolling in around October of this year. Now they say late 2022. That’s another year to wait. I have to buy a new vehicle. Waiting another year is not an option and I don’t like the current interior so the old model is not an option.
late 2021 not 2022
Read the article again. Says late 2022.
Buy a Tahoe.. They are so sick
You would just be disappointed in this thing anyway, it’s what Chevy does best. Might as well buy a Ram or Ford.
Yeah, because Ford and Ram never have any problems.😂🤣😅
So when will the real 2022 “refreshed” Silverados begin production? Any guesses?
My guess would be as soon as GM fulfills 2021 orders(some will be sold as 2022’s, because they’re so behind), they will begin filling the refreshed 2022 orders. I’d bet GM will push to get the new design in the dealerships by spring so production should start mid 1st quarter……just a guess.
July 2022
“However, the 2022 Silverado refresh has had to be pushed back, and the new model will not arrive until late in the 2022 model year. The introduction of the Silverado 1500’s corporate cousin, the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500, is also being delayed until roughly the same timeframe.” So I would say, last Qtr of 2022.
They say the refreshed 22 will start showing up in dealerships late in the 2022 model year. I take that to mean 3rd to more likely 4th quarter. My guess produscrion start maybe September and deliveries start October November 2022.
Kinda strange. If the redesign comes out that late wouldn’t it be a 2023?
