2021 Chevy Silverado Dark Essentials Package Now Available With Multi-Flex Tailgate

The optional Dark Essentials Package for the 2021 Chevy Silverado can now be ordered in conjunction with the available Multi-Flex Tailgate for the Silverado 1500 pickup truck.

The Dark Essentials Package, which carries RPO code PDB, is available on several different 2021 Chevy Silverado trim levels and includes the following equipment (relevant RPO codes listed in parentheses):

    • Black Silverado and trim nameplates (RPO RIK)
    • Front Black bow tie (RPO SFZ)
    • Black tailgate decal lettering (RPO SB7)
    • Black engine badges when ordered with 6.2L L87 EcoTec3 V8 engine or Duramax 3.0L LM2 Turbodiesel I6 engine (RPO SB7)

Previously, the Dark Essentials Package was not available to order with the Multi-Flex Tailgate on the 2021 Chevy Silverado, but customers will now be able to order both of these options on the truck. When the Multi-Flex Tailgate is ordered with the Dark Essentials Package, the Black ‘Chevrolet’ lettering on the tailgate will be replaced with a Black tailgate bow tie emblem. The Multi-Flex Tailgate is usually shipped with a Yellow tailgate bow tie.

In addition, the Dark Essentials Package is now available on the High Country trim level for both the Silverado 1500 and the Silverado HD, which wasn’t previously the case for the 2021 model year. The Dark Essentials Package costs $305 when ordered with the Custom Trail Boss, RST and LT Trail Boss trim levels, $425 when ordered with the Work Truck and Custom trim levels and $445 when ordered with the LT, LTZ and High Country trim levels.

As a reminder, the Multi-Flex Tailgate, which is a multi-position tailgate design to enhance the usability of the pickup’s bed section, varies in price according to the chosen Chevy Silverado trim level.

Pricing for the 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500 starts at $30,595 for the WT trim level in the Regular Cab, Long Bed body style with rear-wheel drive and the 4.3L LV3 V6 engine. Production of the truck occurs at the GM Fort Wayne Assembly plant in Fort Wayne, Indiana and GM Silao Assembly plant in Silao, Mexico.

  2. Dark Essentials? Isn’t this proof GM inclusive and diverse? Imagine the left’s outrage if GM called something White Essentials.
