This Is The 2022 Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing

Following a teaser aired during the Rolex 24 At Daytona endurance race, GM has finally unveiled the 2022 Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing, adding a new range-topper to the CT4 sedan lineup.

The Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing signals its top-dog position with a variety of exterior cues and aero upgrades. The front end is equipped with a pronounced lower lip section, which is attached to a reshaped bumper with new side intakes. A large spoiler was added to the trunk, and there are new underbody panels that reduce drag. Black trim is used extensively. Wheel sizing is set at 18 inches, front to back.

Inside the cabin, drivers get to grips with a leatherette performance steering wheel, as well as various carbon fiber trim bits. The Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing also features performance front seats with 18-way adjustability and heating, plus optional ventilation. Models with a manual transmission rock a shift knob that incorporates a 3D-printed metal medallion. Three interior trim levels are offered, each with unique features and tech. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, as is wireless phone charging.

While the Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing is exciting to look at and sporty inside the cabin, it also has all the right performance upgrades to match the more aggressive demeanor. The star of the show is the twin-turbo 3.6L V6 LF4 gas engine, which was previously equipped in the Cadillac ATS-V, with output now rated at 472 horsepower and 445 pound-feet of torque. Sending that muscle to the rear wheels is a standard Tremec six-speed manual transmission, but a 10-speed automatic is also on offer.

Sixty mph arrives in 3.8 seconds, while top speed is pegged at 189 mph.

Further standouts include special Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires sized at 255/35R18 in front and 275/35ZR18 in the rear, plus upgraded Brembo brakes. Magnetic Ride Control 4.0 keeps it all under control.

As GM Authority was the first to report, order books for the Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing open at 7:30 p.m. EST following the vehicle’s official debut. The first 250 customers in line will receive a free session at the Cadillac V-Performance Academy at the Spring Mountain Resort racetrack in Nevada. The first 250 units also include a special serial number plate and certificate of authenticity.

Pricing starts at $59,990. Deliveries get underway in the summer.

  1. These are welcome upgrades from the ATS-V: bit more power, better interior at a lower sticker price.

    1. GOOD JOB! I’m loving it. Very clean yet still aggressive. Totally functional, minimalist, aesthetic front facia, front splitter and dive planes, all inlets are functional plus fender outlets. Under body panels to lower drag, 18 way adjustable carbon fiber bucket seats, massive ventilated disk calibers, nice carbon fiber covered sport steering wheel and console, and attractively shaped rear spoiler to create massive downforce, very large tires.

Not to mention comes with 473 hp. Same amount with BMW M3 but beat the gay german’s 3 lt in torque, no replacement for displacement!!. To me only negative is the their decision to keep those trapezoidal exhaust outlets which are not suit the car’s aggressiveness. But hey , be reasonable; the best of things will have these sorts of flaws.! It’s easiest and less costly thing to replace in a car.

Let’s look at its competition, shall we, BMW M3 start at laughable 73K, almost 15K more than CT4 blackwing and classic German scheme, they charge extra for every item.

      1. Caddy has everything to have a say in luxury car world; technology, illustrious heritage… There’s no reason fricking BMW which only has become a significant car maker after late sixties eat Cadillac’s launch with their way overpriced trash.

  2. A faux vent behind the front wheels? Christ, GM.

Edit: Article now simply says side intakes. Hope they’re functional.

  3. That Caddie looks really good. The side pics has some 3 series look to me, certainly a car that should sell…..if people want a high end car.

In all seriousness, I think the ct4-v Blackwing looks good.

  5. Really nice, but I’m not a fan of the overly huge rear wing. I know it’s functional, but it just doesn’t look very good. And after all, that’s about all the German brands will be seeing! The taillights and huge wing!

    1. Well, the wing is optional. Part of the carbon fiber pack i believe. I’d leave it off also. I prefer a stealth look.

      1. The wing is probably not optional, its part of the Blackwing package.

REAR down force for the new horsepower numbers, it has to have a wing.

        1. I think that I’d get used to it after a while, but just not my style overall. It looks just a bit too boy-racer added on to me. But I get it’s very functional. Guess that’s why I drive the more base luxury model.

    Just one question!!
Do you think it would sell in Korea South ???

    Reply
    1. I guess so, why not, you have bmw m3s and m5s over there, do you? Caddy which has a much greater footprint than germans in Korea with having large production facilities, i will be surprised if they don’t plan to bring these babies to South Korea.

  11. My comment above was brief because I was pressed for time when I wrote it but I feel this new car from GM merits a full response. It has been awhile since ANY American manufacturer, let alone General Motors has actually wowed me with a new product, however, this new CT4 Blackwing and it’s big brother have definitely caught my attention. Besting the SS Camaro in horsepower and a mere 10lb-ft short of the torque specs produced by the massive 6.2L V8 is downright impressive and I’m sure it is a contender with the Camaro on the track and on the street and with that I’m sure it will best just about any mustang shy of a Mach 1 in a fair fight as it beats the Ford V8 in both horsepower and torque. It has the raw feel of a true Holden Commodore successor (both cars do). And I’m curious to see what tuning will do for these vehicles. GM has truly done well in the execution of these vehicles and hopefully, they can work more of this kind of magic back into the rest of the lineup, especially Chevrolet.
