Poll: What’s The Best 2020 Corvette Spoiler?

Even though the traditional long-hoodline and cab-back proportions are now a thing of the past, the all-new 2020 Corvette C8 is still a fantastic-looking automobile, with a sharp, balanced aesthetic that screams supercar from every single angle. Indeed, now that the engine is mounted in the middle of the machine, the C8 places more visual emphasis on the tail section, and unsurprisingly, buyers have a number of options to choose from regarding rear spoiler design.

Looking over the 2020 Corvette online configurator, we find four available spoilers on offer, including the Z51 Performance Package rear spoiler, which can be had in either a body-color finish or Carbon Flash Metallic, or the High Wing Spoiler, which is also available in either a body-color finish or Carbon Flash Metallic.

Here’s a table breakdown of all four, including availability:

2020 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Coupe Spoilers
RPO Code Spoiler Notes
T0A Z51 rear spoiler – body color Included and only available with Z51 Performance Package.
T0A Z51 rear spoiler – Carbon Flash Metallic Included and only available with Z51 Performance Package.
5ZZ High Wing Spoiler in Carbon Flash Metallic Genuine Corvette Accessory (LPO), Not available with (R8C) Corvette Museum Delivery.
5ZU High Wing Spoiler in body color Genuine Corvette Accessory (LPO), Requires exterior color (G8G) Arctic White, (GBA) Black, (GJI) Shadow Gray Metallic or (GKZ) Torch Red. Not available with (R8C) Corvette Museum Delivery.

So then, the question remains: which of these four is the best?

Let’s start with everyone’s favorite upgrade—the Z51 Performance Package. With enhancements like stickier Michelin Pilot Sport 4S performance summer tires, bigger brakes, a performance exhaust, an electronic limited-slip differential, extra engine cooling and access to the FE4 Magnetic Ride Control suspension, the Z51 Performance Package is the clear choice for anyone looking to extract every tenth from their 2020 Corvette. What’s more, the package includes a rear spoiler that provides more than 400 pounds of downforce.

It looks good in the body-color finish, no doubt about it, but it looks equally nice with the Carbon Flash finish, which adds even more contrast, especially against Arctic White paint, as seen here.

As if the standard spoiler were too subtle, the 2020 Corvette is also offered with the High Wing Spoiler option, which makes its presence known with a towering GT-style wing that rises high above the rear engine cover thanks to a quartet of black pillars.

Grab the High Wing Spoiler with the body-color finish, and the color of the wing element matches the body panels. Alternatively, the High Wing Spoiler is also offered in Carbon Flash, which gives the wing element a darker finish.

There’s one more option to consider here—wingless. For those that want something a little cleaner, this is the clear winner of the bunch.

  1. For the daily road goer, the Z51 is aggressive and ties in with the rest of the car enough without being ostentatious.
And depending on the colour of the car would determine my preference of body match or carbon.

  2. What is the down force of the High Wing Spoiler if the standard Z51 spoiler provides 400 lbs. ?

    I’m leaning towards the “R” wing! ?

    I believe I can fly! ?

  3. I like the one without the spoiler. (Wingless)

If the spoiler needs to be present, the C8.R has a really good one.

I don’t like the others that are shown above, i prefer it to be neat and clean.

  4. If I could nitpick the C8. I would say NONE of the Spoilers interest me. But without one it looks very plain.
I am very disappointed GM once again didn’t offer a feature cars have had for over 20 years now. An Active Rear Wing. But like I said, that is a minor gripe but wish the C8 had it. That would have been a Zero Comprises C8 in my mind. I have heard from some Porsche owners that they wouldn’t switch due to the tacky Rear Wings.

  5. Active rear wings cost money. This is also the base model, I’d not be surprised if future performance variants have active wings.

    1. Base Porsche’s have Active Wings. I know it costs money and I could understand the Base C8 not having it as standard but for it not to even be an option shows that GM still has a little ways to go. They didn’t want to spend the money for it. It really is that simple. Like I stated above, it is a minor issue for me but GM desperately needs new blood for the Vette and I think most buyers in that field look at everything.

GM wishes they would have the following they do and the money in which they make. Are you being serious right now?

          1. The average sports car buyers need for an “active wing”.
The pursuit of gratification from “vanity” or egotistic admiration of one’s idealised self image. To be obsessed with how you look, to love oneself’s image.

An “active wing” is not necessary on anything less than extreme driving conditions.

  6. The no wing option looks best. I wish they would add an optional active rear wing. Much cleaner look than these grab handle wings.

    1. Agreed. An Active Rear Wing should have been on offer.
GM is missing out on some serious Profit opportunities just from that Stand Alone feature alone.

    1. Lol, you haven’t seen my 80 year old father driving his 84 ‘vette have you? Been well over a 100 with him. BTW, I’m 56 and had my ’90 vette to 165 and let off with more gas left. Now, when we get a C8, get the hell out of the left lane…lol.

  8. Best spoiler is the fact no one to build the car !!! Let’s thank Mary for not doing her job in America !

  9. Porsche needs an active wing because it is an aerodynamic turd at speed and is such a tired design.

  10. The best spoiler is the one that adds the most to overall performance of the Chevrolet C8 Corvette Z51 Stingray; one will have to wait while one of the magazines conduct the testing to find out what adds the the most, color of the wing is owner preference as to whether have it look an aftermarket purchase or factory OEM.

  11. Definitely no wing at all. The rear end is already very busy with all the vents and lines. Wings that provide no useful effect outside a race track are tacky if you ask me.

    1. No.

  13. How about some sort of lip spoiler option? As well as an active wing? Also, how about some tests without wing models. I’m betting the top speed of a modified base model with no wing is going to be pretty impressive….not to mention upset a bunch of higher trim level owners. Seems like all the reviewers right now are focused on decked out models.

  14. None. It looks best the way the designers designed it, before tacking on ugly (but functional) spoilers or wings.

  15. Tadge, how about a T0A delete option for those of us who want the Z51 goodies, but who don’t want the pool noodle wing, but do want the sleek lines and higher top speed without it?

Without this wing delete, there is going to be a hot aftermarket for Z51 wing removals and a thin aftermarket spoiler option or body color hole plugs….

Tadge, I’ll give you $200 to delete the Z51 wing. ..please, just take my money. ..win-win!

  16. Why not have the z51 spoiler shipped with the car and have it dealer installed if preferred. My preference is no spoiler ,but I want the z51 package !

  20. I Get a kick out of some of these young duds they like to take shot’s at us older guys that have been around more than a couple of blocks, they sound like the know everything but know nothing ass wipes on TMZ. A lot of them young guys have a lot say and many of them never have had never will own a Vette or 3 and never will!

  21. If performance is what’s desired and the wing generates measurable down force at “speed”, I’d leave that one up to the engineers who put the z51 package together. Admittedly, the fixed wing looks 80s esque, but then its a sub 80k mid engine 495 hp, 11 second quarter mile, sports car. Still, its near caviar on a beer budget.

  22. Still waiting on production date.

Worried about a spoiler that doesn’t make a bit of difference to most, but looks…

It’s not a race car, it’s for you gold chain guys…

More $$$ than driving ability, bunch of Sunday drivers, I’m not talking race day either…
