The GM Authority Take

The Acadia’s January sales performance is the culmination of a gradual yet complete launch of the all-new, second-generation model across North America — a process that took the greater part of 2016 to complete. In addition, the figures show that the second-gen Acadia, which is smaller than the first-generation model it replaces, hits at the sweet spot of the crossover segment and appeals to a broader potential customer base over its predecessor.

It will be interesting to see how the Acadia performs into the 2017 calendar year, but we expect the sales volume to continue climbing in subsequent months.

  1. Or it reflects the fact that they finally seem to be available in number. Based on how few that I saw in dealer lots they must have been hard to come by for quite a whiles. Were there production issues? Nothing hit the media that I saw but it appears to have been a slow slow launch.

Haven’t had the opportunity to drive one yet but am looking forward to the chance to do so.

    1. “Or it reflects the fact that they finally seem to be available in number”.

Yes, that’s correct. That’s exactly what I mean in saying that the spike is associated with “the culmination of a gradual yet complete launch” process in the GMA Take.

  2. It is the numbers but also it takes about a year for new models to really start to gain traction with the public.

GM slow start up and customer acceptance is not conducive to high volume of any model.

  3. It looks like sales for both the new Acadia and Cadillac XT5 continue to gain traction.

People see more of these on the road and like the way they look. They read the reports and go for a test drive.

GM has done a good job in making sure these two brands have their own styling identity.

  4. Sometimes potential buyers seeing a vehicle on the road is the best advertisement that a company can have .
I have seen more Denali’s than any other trim on the road so far, and it’s got me thinking about getting one . I do wish you could get the All Terrain model w/Navigation .
My Cadillac dealership is already offering up to 5g’s off the purchase of the XT5 and 1.9% financing till the end of the month . That also has me interested , but i hardly ever see one on the road . That all seems to point to slow sales of the 5 so far in my area .

    1. I’d like an All Terrain with the 3rd row of seats that all other Acadias have.

Why does selecting the All Terrain package delete seats inside? There’s no mechanical reason for it.
