July 2016 Cadillac Sales By Model

On a model basis, sales of the Cadillac ATS, XTS and Escalade increased year-over-year, while those of the CTS, along with the now-discontinued ELR and SRX decreased. The brand’s two all-new products — the 2017 Cadillac XT5 midsize crossover and 2016 Cadillac CT6 full-size prestige sedan — drove sales even further.

Globally, a whopping 8,130 units of the new XT5 were sold during its fourth month on the U.S. market and third month in most international markets. Additionally, 1,234 units of the new CT6 were delivered — the vehicle’s second-highest sales performance since its launch earlier this year. Escalade sales were up 1.9 percent.

Average Transaction Prices

In the U.S. market, Cadillac average transaction prices topped $53,000 per unit, according to J.D. Power Information Network, the highest among full-line luxury brands.

“Product substance forms the foundation of our disciplined approach to global expansion,” said Cadillac President Johan de Nysschen. “Elevating every aspect of the business is how we earn incremental volume growth while simultaneously building brand prestige.”

The first-ever Cadillac CT6, assembled in both Detroit and Shanghai, establishes a new top of Cadillac’s sedan range.

About The Figures

  • China sales represent retail sales, rather than wholesales
  • Europe sales are estimated and do not include Chevrolet Corvette and Chevrolet Camaro, which are offered in some European Cadillac dealerships

  1. No surprise that China is driving Cadillac growth right now.
Great result for the new XT5 with volume already nearly equalling the SRX after only a few months on the market.

  2. It amazes me how the CTS has just fallen flat on its face, even the XTS kills it in sales which should keep some Cadillac executives wondering why a FWD larger XTS thats starts around the same price as the CTS, is maintaining better sales patterns. I really think the CTS is a good looking car but there is something wrong with the pricing in correlation to the name which i think is part of its sales issues.

Other then that, glad to see the CT6 coming in strong. I was not sure how it would be received, but it and the XTS should show GM that yes, people still like full size luxury sedans.

  3. CTS is an excellent car. I’m biased I’ve had a CTS Premium since February and it is by far the most gratifying car I’ve owned in 51 years of driving. It has been back for a changeover to synthetic oil and nothing else. Also the only Cadillac recommended by CR and a Car &Dtiver best for three years, This is in contrast to my 2014 ATS Premium that was borderline junk!

Say what you want, Cadillac is dependent on loyal customers until it transitions to a youngsters car–little sarcasm–something that may never happen or will take a long time. Previous purchasers of CTS are in sticker shock and unwilling to pay $70k for the cat. I understand it is a far superior car but previous buyers are not making that their primary buying decision.

  4. When will Cadillac bring back those beautiful designs and lines from the golden ages and kill off the tired A&S design theme.

  5. Looks like Cadillac could top 300K this year if they keep the momentum going.

I am seeing some great advertisements on the ATS and CTS with summer offers which is a good thing. So Cadillac is doing their part on marketing while still marketing the XT5 and CT6.

    1. 300K might be a little tight but I do think the positive sales momentum will continue the rest of the year.

  6. The only thing wrong with the CTS is the price on the sticker . Returning customers will gravitate to the XTS which has more interior room , is bigger and offers alot for the price . I have never understood why so many people think that the car is a bad one . The styling is the same and the interior appointments are just as good as the smaller CTS .
Killing off the the XTS in three more years just might not be a good idea . It’s not going to force customers to buy the CTS , and they just might look elsewhere . What we will see in three years is a completely different car , the CT4 which will take over as the mid-size car . Bigger than the CTS and smaller than the XTS and much lighter .
The sales of the new CT6 will help bolster sales until JDN’s portfolio appears at the end of the decade . The XT5 will take-off and fill in the void of the old SRX .

    1. CTS has more modern mechanicals including revised 3.6 and 8 speed while XTS stuck with old 3.6 and archaic 6 speed. XTS is fine rider but definitely not known for handling prowess. XTS also has mediocre reliability as reported by CR readers

Will not differ with you that many buyers have sticker shock with the CTS.
