Although the mid-engine Corvette isn’t exactly focused on maximizing practicality or cargo room, the eighth-generation sports car does incorporate two highly usable storage areas, including one area in the rear behind the engine, as well as a second area up front. Now, Chevy is offering a new suede trim upgrade for the 2024 Corvette that adds a more premium feel to these two areas. The upgrade is available in multiple colors as well, giving customers yet another opportunity to customize their Vette as they see fit.
The new upgrade is officially called the “Front and Rear Trunk Sueded Microfiber Trim Panel Kit,” and is offered under RPO code SXB. The kit is also classified as an LPO-level option, which means that if you tick the associated box when ordering your new Vette, the trim panels are installed by the dealer, rather than at the factory when the vehicle is produced.
According to GM, the kit replaces the standard carpet and “helps maintain overall durability.” It includes one under hood storage trim panel, and a trunk trim panel set with four pieces.
The Front and Rear Trunk Sueded Microfiber Trim Panel Kit is available for the C8 Stingray and C8 Z06, but not the C8 E-Ray. Both the Coupe and Convertible body styles are supported. Color options include Adrenaline Red, Natural Tan, and Jet Black.
Pricing is set at $1,095. The kit also includes a warranty set at either the balance of the vehicle’s bumper-to-bumper warranty, or 12 months / 12,000 miles, whichever is greater.
While expensive, the kit could be the right addition for those owners looking to give their C8 a unique touch, especially when popping the front and rear hatches, such as at a car show.
As a reminder, all C8 Corvette models ride on the GM Y2 platform, and all C8 units are produced exclusively at the GM Bowling Green plant in Kentucky. The C8 Stingray is equipped with the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 LT2 gasoline engine, while the C8 Z06 is equipped with the naturally aspirated 5.5L V8 LT6 gasoline engine.

Very interesting and very good!
But it is not “suede” but a microfiber that looks similar to Alcantara.
This microfiber trim looks “one-piece” i.e. without seams, like a “pressed part” which requires new tools in production as it is “finer” than normal velour.
So I see the “surcharge” as a normal surcharge for special equipment – in Germany they call it Individual – and they charge a lot more for it.
So GM is only asking for a normal surcharge again and I think that’s great!!!
Your money, your choice.
I couldn’t care less about a microfiber frunk/trunk liner for ~$1,100 in my C8 Z06. I could put that towards more performance, aero, etc.. GM is king when it comes to (essentially) worthless options, but it is very smart business. Sticker packages for $$$ thousands more, “special” limited edition paint colors for $$$ thousands more, anniversary editions for $$$ thousands more, etc.. There is a sucker born every day and GM appreciates your business.
I love how GM is giving each owner options luke these to personify their Vette. These look quite good and make those areas pop. Maybe not great fir daily users and scuffing up luggage space, but many owners rarely put baggage in there. These make them look great.
Agree about the luggage, but you do want to keep your golf clubs looking good.
And you call this car a sports car. Ha!
Perhaps you can expound on your comment.
The Corvette has always been a sports car since its inception in 1953, but now the C8 Z06 has entered supercar territory as will the forthcoming ZR1.
I love how the C8 Corvette has a frunk but GM cant figure out packaging with a purpose build EV platform to give their electric crossovers a frunk. Such a shame…
Will this fit 2020-2025?
I would think so. As far as I know, with the exception of the E-Ray the frunk and trunk area identical in each year model.
