Chevy Trax Average Transaction Price Just Over $25,000 In August 2024

With a fresh, all-new design for the second generation and an affordable price tag, the Chevy Trax has become a popular, fast-selling model – with an average transaction price (ATP) just over $25,000 in August 2024, according to research by Cox Automotive and Kelley Blue Book.

The exact ATP for the Chevy Trax in August was $25,081, which is higher than 2024 Chevy Trax average prices in Q4 2023, when the crossover sold for a typical sum of $24,790.

Looking farther back to Q2 2023, the Trax was selling for an average amount of $24,487 at that time. These price figures indicate the ATP for the crossover increased 1.23 percent between Q2 and Q4 2023, while between Q4 2023 and August 2024 the model’s average selling price rose by approximately the same amount (1.17 percent).

Market information shows that the Chevy Trax is now the third most affordable new vehicle available in the United States. Previously, it was the fifth most affordable model, but several cheaper competitors were discontinued or got price increases. Only the 2024 Nissan Versa and the 2024 Hyundai Venue outdo the Trax in thriftiness, the latter beating the Bow Tie crossover by only $200.

Data shows that the combination of modern features and economical pricing offered by the Trax is winning new customers for The General. At least during 2023, 56 percent of Chevy Trax sales in the U.S. were made to customers who had never owned a GM vehicle before, providing a high level of conquest sales for the automaker. In South Korea, conquest sales were even higher at about 67 percent.

Noting that the “new Trax is wildly popular” and is also “much more profitable than the model it replaced,” GM president Mark Reuss argues that the company has a strong business case for entry-level vehicles. Reuss said the Trax, along with the Buick Envista and Buick Encore GX, “have helped raise our share of the U.S. small SUV market to its highest level since 2007.” He also said “vehicle EBIT improved by about 20 percentage points” thanks to the Winning with Simplicity initiative and cuts in structural costs.

As a reminder, the new 2025 Trax is motivated by the new turbocharged 1.2L I3 LBP gasoline engine developing 137 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque, along with offering E85 fuel compatibility. The GM VSS-F vehicle set provides the bones for the second-gen Chevy Trax, while the crossover is produced exclusively at the GM Changwon plant in South Korea.

  1. It makes NO sense to buy any trim of this other than the base. It’s a disposable vehicle, in the sense that I’m SURE that components are so cheap, it’ll never last long-term. If I can find a $22800 LS for $19300 around here, that $25K figure just screams stupid buyers.
