With the first units of the all-new 2024 Chevy Trax hitting U.S. dealership lots in Spring 2023, the entry-level crossover has quickly become one of the Bow Tie brand’s best-selling models, as it comes in third behind the Chevy Silverado and Chevy Equinox sales numbers during Q4 2023. Now, the Trax’s average transaction price (ATP) slightly declined over the same timeframe.
According to a report from Cox Automotive, the Chevy Trax saw a 0.3-percent ATP drop to $24,790. This may not be as surprising for some folks, considering that the Trax’s price range is relatively narrow, as the difference in the starting MSRPs between the starting LS trim level and the range-topping Activ model is only $3,500.
That said, sales of the subcompact crossover skyrocketed more than 800 percent to 44,127 units during Q4 2023. Meanwhile, Chevy sales fell 0.5 percent overall to 406,848 units, and General Motors sales overall stood at a 0.2 percent gain to 619,684 units.
The 2024 Trax was highlighted by the introduction of an all-new generation. Of course, this means that the exterior design has been thoroughly overhauled and now features longer lower, and wider proportions. A set of dual-tier headlights with daytime running lights and turn signals are mounted high on the front fascia, with headlamps mounted low. Curiously, it looks more like the Chevy Blazer than the Chevy Trailblazer does.
Moving to the interior, the next-gen Trax boasts an extra three inches of rear legroom and a 12-percent bump in cargo space as compared to the preceding generation. Active Noise Cancelation and Adaptive Cruise Control are available on most trims, while an eight-inch diagonal infotainment screen is standard on lower trims and an 11-inch screen can be found in LT, 2RS, and Activ units. Inside and out, the all-new Trax is a massive improvement over the outgoing model that shared a platform with the Chevy Sonic. Apparently, most SUV shoppers agree.
Under the hood, the 2024 Chevy Trax is powered by the turbocharged 1.2L I3 LIH gasoline engine, rated at 137 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque. Output is routed to the front wheels exclusively via the GM six-speed automatic transmission.
Regarding structure, the 2024 Trax rides on the GM VSS-F vehicle set while production takes place at the GM Changwon plant in South Korea.

Used to be that the few on lots within 300 miles of me were often discounted a grand or two. But now it’s MSRP or nothing, baby. Can find Equinoxes, easily. for less. A few Trailblazers for less, too.
There’s a whopping $300 in markup on the fastest moving Chevrolet model (Trax), why would they discount it?
I am seeing a lot more Chevy Trax here in the Midwest. This tells me that car buyers want an affordable vehicle and GM has delivered. I will admit, it is an attractive small SUV with lots of room. This was a good decision by GM.
GM has delivered? That will be determined if after 100K miles the lawn tractor engine that they used is still going without needing repairs.
3 cylinders won’t make it to 100,000 miles
except were its made at,,,,,, dont forget or never forget they shut down lordstown gm plant in ohio because of corperett greed
It’s fairly priced and is very popular. Hopefully, Chevy doesn’t mark the price up and ruin its affordability like Ford did with the Maverick.
I can see why the Trax is popular. Yet, for the money I can buy a certified Mazda CX 5, Toyota Camary or even a Toyota Corolla. Those vehicles would be a better value for the money. I could also search out a RAV 4 from the previous generation. Granted that a previous generation RAV may have some serious mileage. If it has been maintained I bet that the 4-cylinder engine will outlast the piss pot 3-cylinder engine in the Trax. I am not interested in the latest technology such as whether a vehicle can be hooked up to NASA. I am interested in a vehicle that is dependable & that I can rely on without having to sink money into it. There is one sure thing that will come out of the current redesigned Trax being popular, the value of the previous generation will take a nosedive. So far, I have not seen any of the new Trax and just 1 or 2 of the Encore GX. I am curious as to whether that tiny turbo charged 3-cylinder engines will last past 90,000 miles let alone 100,000.
Couldn’t agree more. Consumers will look at the initial price of $22K but not look at the long term cost of owning it, unless they only plan on keeping it for 2 or 3 years.
Yeah a used car with no warranty this vehicle is a tremendous if you haven’t driven one do yourself favor its incredible
A very likable little CUV but one that needs a little work before I would consider one and more owner miles to see if it holds up. I would also like to see the 1.3 engine offered on the higher trims and some armrest padding. A power seat option would be nice too on the LT and RS
The much more expensive Hyundai Kona… has hard door armrests.
Buy a Trailblazer 🤦♂️
The Trax is an amazing suv for a great price people who downgrade this vehicle blow my mind just truly have to be trolls! This vehicle is a spectacular value and it’s crazy that anyone would say otherwise
Nobody is saying it’s not a great vehicle. What I don’t understand is why GM keeps putting glorified lawn tractor engines in their new small vehicles? What happened to the 1.6 liter engine that they used in the Buick Cascada? I’m just not convinced that you’re going to get Toyota Corolla or Honda Civic longevity out of these small 3 cylinder turbo engines without needing costly repairs.
How about updates, specs & availability on 2024 Traverse…
3 cylinder engine I just lost interest ,,body wise an impressive improvement

Drive one! It’s a fantastic vehicle
I have 5500 miles on my Trax, I brought it home on November 18th. Have had no issues with it yet that require an unscheduled visit to the dealer. Sometimes it takes a minute for the TPMS to read on a cold start, prompting the tire pressure light to come on. Not sure how it is losing communication, but as I drive, it finds the signal and the light goes away. Also, the radio screen has glitched a few times, but it has come back to normal quickly so far (once it required an ignition cycle to fix itself). Depending on how I drive, I am getting 32.4-34 mpg so far. That helps a lot with my commute costs when my previous 2019 Colorado Z71 gave me around 21.5.
The looks, the price, the color, and the size are spot-on, I think. It is pleasant to drive.
You haven’t even reached your first scheduled oil change. Get back when you reach 150K miles.
