Five months after announcing that right-hand-drive variants of the Yukon were undergoing testing in Australia and New Zealand, General Motors has just officially unveiled the 2025 GMC Yukon in both countries.
The automaker’s Australian subsidiary, General Motors Specialty Vehicles (GMSV), has unveiled the refreshed 2025 GMC Yukon as the full-size SUV will arrive in Oceania’s largest countries for the first time. As such, GMSV revealed the first official images and equipment details of the 2025 Yukon in final RHD configuration ahead of its official introduction in the Australian and New Zealand markets during the first half of next year.
“The GMC Yukon is the ultimate vehicle for families and groups who need to transport as many as eight people in comfort, safety, and style, combined with unheralded towing capability and luggage carrying ability,” said Managing Director of GM Australia & New Zealand, Jess Bala. “A powerful V8 engine, luxurious interior are complemented with the latest in technology and safety systems to make the GMC Yukon Denali the latest ‘must have’ vehicle brought to you by GMSV,” she added.
Specifically, the 2025 GMC Yukon will be sold in Australia and New Zealand exclusively in the top-of-the-line Denali trim level that will offer customers the latest in premium features and performance. In fact, the 2025 Yukon will introduce the GMC brand to both countries as its flagship model that will stand out for its striking design, spacious interior, advanced technologies and muscular powertrain.
The new 2025 GMC Yukon Denali for Australia and New Zealand will feature the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine as the sole powerplant choice, generating 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, mated to GM’s 10-speed automatic transmission. This is the same reliable and proven powertrain found in the Chevy Silverado 1500, which is sold in both markets and remanufactured in Australia.
The right-hand-drive 2025 GMC Yukon is set to launch later this year in Australia and New Zealand, where it is scheduled to go on sale in the second quarter of 2025. GMC Yukon units will be imported partially assembled from the GM Arlington plant in Texas and remanufactured at GMSV’s RHD plant in Melbourne. Testing continues with a fleet of engineering vehicles undergoing validation prior to launch.

Will be Fantastic to see these “Beasts” on the road here in Oz. Would have preferred the Chevrolet Tahoe, to match the Chevrolet Camaro racing here in V8 Supercars, the Chevrolet Silverado selling here in reasonable numbers & the Chevrolet Corvette C8 selling here. I’m not sure Aussie’s here will support a different brand offshoot as it’s taken some doing convincing them GM are ok after AXING our Holden Brand. Tome will tell.
now watch as they price it over $200k with a straight face believing it’ll do numbers and not a single person buys it over literally anything else available to us
