Sometimes, the car community is more than just a group of like-minded individuals sharing a passion. Sometimes, the true meaning of “community” shines through right when it’s needed most. Such was the case in Wyoming recently when a chance encounter between two C7 Corvette ZR1 drivers turned into an inspiring act of generosity.
According to a recent social media post by the National Corvette Caravan group, Pacific Central Caravan leader Don Herzer faced an unexpected challenge while on his way to the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Kentucky. While passing through Cheyenne, Wyoming with the Caravan, Herzer experienced what is described as “a major right front tire incident” that left his C7 Corvette ZR1 stranded at a local dealership. With the necessary replacement tires not due to arrive for another two days, his journey seemed to be at an unfortunate standstill.

However, as luck would have it, local Corvette enthusiasts Alex and Sarah Aragon happened to bring their own C7 Corvette ZR1 to the same Cheyenne dealership that very morning for service. When they learned of Herzer’s predicament, the Aragons didn’t hesitate, offering up the tires from their own ZR1 to get Herzer back on the road.
“[Alex and Sarah] saw what a bind Don was in and gave him their tires off their car!” reads the post. “Don was back on the road with the group. What would be the chances of another ZR1 being brought in for service on the same morning that Don would be there?”
It’s great to see the camaraderie that exists within the Corvette community. What could have been a major setback for Herzer was quickly turned around, all thanks to the kindness of fellow enthusiasts. In a world where it’s easy to focus on the negatives, stories like these remind us of the positive impact we can have on each other.

As for the ZR1, specs include the supercharged 6.2L V8 LT5 gasoline engine, rated at 755 horsepower and 715 pound-feet of torque.

With all of the lawless, violent, abhorrent, disgusting animals that we hear about on a daily basis, it is nice to hear that good-hearted, honest, friendly people still exist.
Not to get political, but Election Day is fast approaching, I know where I stand on the side of law and order. A few months ago, a family member was battling for her life because of these aforementioned lawless animals. She survived only by the grace of God and months of medical care. 🙁
I & my wife out 100% with you on Election Day. We are Corvette people and appreciate what this couple did.

There’s a lot of good and nice people in the world, we only hear about the bad most of the time.
Very cool!! Sometimes things happen that saves the day. I had such an incident just a couple of weeks ago. On the way to a car show with my 1977 Buick Electra a hose clamp gave out, the hose disconnected and I lost all the coolant and was stranded along side the road. Before I could even phone my wife, a white van stopped and a burly guy named Floyd got out. He happened to have enough water with him to get me to the next exit, and did an expert job with the clamp. Floyd is a 78 year old guy who still rebuilds engines, and says he has a Mom in Waunakee, Wisconsin who is turning 100 soon. I am 75 this year, and would have a hard time keeping up with Floyd. Anyway, I got off at the nearest exit, found an auto parts store, topped off the cooling system the rest of the way, and made it to the car show. So far, the Buick is OK and shows no ill effects. Floyd refused payment when I offered, and was my hero and a Godsend that day. Thanks again, Floyd!!
Wait…we need more details…did Herzer pay for the replacements and then the new replacements were installed on the Aragon’s car when the tires arrived at the dealership? If so, the Aragons made out. They donated their used tires and got new ones installed out of the deal. Or, did the Aragons “donate” their tires to Herzer and then pay for replacements themselves? If they both donated their front tires and paid for their own replacements, then that is true generosity. If they gave Herzer their front tires after Herzer said something like “hey, I paid for two front tires but can’t wait for them to arrive and need to get back on the road immediately…would you be willing to give me the front tires off your car and then you can have the two that I ordered when they arrive.” then this isn’t necessarily as charitable a story as it seems; it was basically a “business arrangement”. Honestly, how many of us on here wouldn’t agree to a deal like that?
Geeze the anonymous commentor is what is wrong with America. Cannot accept a kind act as it is. So what if they got new tires out of the deal. Does that negate the kind gesture? Good grief!🤦♀️
