2025 GMC Sierra HD Gets Standard Adaptive Cruise Control On More Trim Levels

Adaptive Cruise Control with Trailering (RPO code KSG) will be equipped as standard on more trim levels of the heavy-duty pickup model with the debut of the 2025 GMC Sierra HD, according to the latest information.

Additionally, the base Pro trim level of the 2025 GMC Sierra HD will no longer require optioning the Trailer Brake Controller (RPO code JL1) as a prerequisite for Adaptive Cruise Control, since the controller is also becoming standard fare on all trims for the 2025 model year.

For comparison, Adaptive Cruise Control with Trailering is equipped as standard only on the AT4X and Denali Ultimate trim levels of the 2024 GMC Sierra HD, while it is available as an option on the Pro, SLE, SLT, AT4 and Denali trims. For the 2025 GMC Sierra HD, ACC with Trailering will be standard on twice as many trims – including the AT4, AT4X, Denali and Denali Ultimate – and is optional only on the Pro, SLE and SLT.

Adaptive Cruise Control with Trailering is available only as part of an optional package for several GMC Sierra HD trim levels. The following table provides a full breakdown of availability for both the 2024 and 2025 model years of the pickup:

According to GMC, the changes will make Adaptive Cruise Control “standard on nearly 70 percent of the GMC Sierra HD lineup,” as well as being present on “more than 80 percent of all GMC Sierra HD crew cabs.” Big Red also says that “the ability to use Adaptive Cruise while trailering can provide greater comfort and ease of mind on longer distance trips,” an important consideration “with 72 percent of Sierra HD customers towing at least monthly.”

Another equipment update for the 2025 model year is availability of the Front Park Assist feature on more trim levels than previously. It can now be optioned on the Pro trim as part of the 1SA Pro Safety Plus Package (RPO code PQA), and on the SLE trim as part of the Sierra HD Pro Safety Plus Package (RPO code PED).

Ordering through GMC dealerships is expected to begin in June for the 2025 GMC Sierra HD. Start of regular production (SORP) is currently scheduled for July 29th, 2024.

The Sierra HD is underpinned by a more capable variant of the GM T1 platform. Production of the pickup model will continue to take place at the GM Flint plant in Michigan.

  1. How about giving the SLE the option for front bucket seats with the full console? Adaptive was a must have for my next vehicle, so that is nice. But I currently have a folding center console and next truck want to go full center console with cloth. You can get it on the Silverado LT just no LED headlights without going painted bumpers which stinks.

  2. Nice to see the trailer brake controller be standardized across all trims and adaptive cruise be standardized across the higher trims, a 75k+ truck should definitely have adaptive cruise

What improvements will there be from 2024.
I hear that they are going to try to make it more efficient. “Specifically for the diesel” does this mean more emission blocking equipment that hampers performance or, does it mean better gas milage
