Here’s When 2025 GMC Sierra HD Production Is Scheduled To Start

Following a significant mid-cycle refresh launched with the 2024 model year, the 2025 GMC Sierra HD pickup will likely introduce more changes and updates, much like the Chevy Silverado HD. Now, GM Authority has learned the scheduled date for the start of regular production (SORP) of the 2025 Sierra HD.

July 29th, 2024, is the day currently scheduled to kick off production of the 2025 GMC Sierra HD, though the date remains tentative and could be changed at some point in between.

All body styles of the 2025 GMC Sierra HD will start production on the same date, including the Regular Cab, Double Cab, and Crew Cab configurations. The announced SORP also applies to all variants of the truck, including the 2500 HD and 3500 HD.

GM has not announced any updates to the 2025 GMC Sierra HD at this point. However, significant changes are being debuted in the 2025 Chevy Silverado HD, the Sierra HD’s twin vehicle, so similar updates remain possible for the Sierra HD.

GM Authority correctly foresaw the introduction of the new Silverado HD Trail Boss months before GM pulled the sheets off the 2025 Trail Boss in February. Additionally, the 2025 Silverado HD is getting Adaptive Cruise Control (RPO code KSG) as standard on the High Country trim, along with the expanded availability of the Front and Rear Park Assist feature (RPO code UD5) on the WT, Custom, and LT trims.

Meanwhile, the 2025 GMC Sierra HD is likely to carry forward the two available powerplants of the 2024 model year, including the naturally aspirated 6.6L V8 L8T gasoline engine rated at 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque equipped as standard and the 6.6L V8 L5P turbodiesel Duramax engine cranking out 470 horsepower and 975 pound-feet of torque as an available option.

The GM six-speed transmission formerly handled cog swaps for gasoline models, but now both the gasoline and diesel engines are paired with GM’s 10-speed automatic transmission as standard.

The 2025 GMC Sierra HD will continue to use the more capable version of the GM T1 platform for structure. Production will take place at the GM Flint plant in Michigan.

  1. Hope there not planning to make to too many of these trucks because with the price tag that comes with them not a lot of people can afford to buy them.

  3. How about a better-looking exterior door skin like the 1500 GM trucks. 2500HD door profile/lines weak on appearance.
