During a recent GM Investor Event, General Motors President Mark Reuss addressed the automaker’s efforts to increase efficiency and lower GHG emissions with the upcoming next-gen pickups.
“It will include new powertrains with major improvements and efficiency, and performance,” Reuss stated. “The next engine portfolio update in our next-generation full-size trucks will deliver better than a 10 percent reduction in greenhouse gases compared to today’s offerings.”
Aside from the updated powertrain offerings, the 2025 GMC Sierra will also flaunt entirely new designs for the exterior and interior, and ride on an all-new platform.
While an electrified GMC Sierra pickup is likely in the automaker’s future lineup, the next-gen Sierra will not use the same platform utilized by the GMC Hummer EV SUV and Hummer EV Pickup, which ride on the Ultium Platform, meaning they use GM’s Ultium battery technology and Ultium drive technology.
We expect the 2025 GMC Sierra to enter the U.S. market in the fall of the 2024 calendar year.
