GM’s Wuling Yangguang EV Reservation Period Begins In China

Following the official debut of the all-new Wuling Yangguang EV in China a few weeks ago, SAIC-GM-Wuling (SGMW) has just begun taking reservations for the new all-electric commercial van in the Asian country.

General Motors’ second joint venture in China officially began the reservation period for the all-new Wuling Yangguang EV on Monday, February 19th, as a prelude to the official launch and sales start of the new Wuling new energy vehicle (NEV) family member, scheduled for the spring months. As such, the brand’s dealer network opened the order list and is already promoting the new Yangguang EV.

In fact, SGMW is offering a series of special gifts for customers who participate in the reservation process of the all-new Wuling Yangguang EV in China. Customers who place an order for the Yangguang EV can enjoy benefits such as a financial discount or vehicle trade-in subsidy, a free standard charging station, or a service gift for free battery pack maintenance.

Customers who pre-order the all-new Wuling Yangguang EV can choose the zero-emission van in one of three variants and two equipment levels, along with different battery configurations. The range is made up of a base equipment level called Practical, which offers two battery options with ranges of 230 km or 300 km (143 or 186 miles), while the top Comfort trim only includes the bigger battery pack.

As the brand’s first all-new commercial van in more than a decade, the Wuling Yangguang EV represents the third generation of the SGMW brand’s best-selling minibus line in China and ushers in a new era in that country’s commercial vehicle category – which Wuling has led for years. The Yangguang EV debuts an evolution of the “mechanical aesthetics” design language and maintains the traditional red logo.

The reservation period for the all-new Wuling Yangguang EV in China will be open from February 19th until the end of next month, just before the official launch ceremony for the vehicle of which deliveries will begin in the spring. Initially, the new Yangguang EV will be available in only two body colors, Mountain Gray and Polar White. Here is pricing for the three variants of the van available for reservation:

  • Yangguang EV Practical 230 km: 73,800 yuan (about $10,250 USD at the current exchange rate)
  • Yangguang EV Practical 300 km: 83,800 yuan ($11,650 USD)
  • Yangguang EV Comfort 300 km: 85,800 yuan ($11,920 USD)

  1. Wow, 10 or 11K for this van is amazing even if it has only 140 or 180 miles of range. It would serve well city businesses. Maybe one day GM will build them in the U.S.,although I’m sure it would be much more expensive.
