2024 Cadillac Lyriq Black-Painted Roof Option Currently Unavailable

Initially making its debut for the 2023 model year, the Cadillac Lyriq is now offered for the 2024 model year with a few small updates and changes. Notably, the 2024 Cadillac Lyriq is currently unavailable with the optional black-painted roof. It’s unclear at this time when the Black roof option for the 2024 Cadillac Lyriq will become available again.

The Black roof option for the 2024 Cadillac Lyriq is tagged with RPO code 41T, and is normally available in combination with every exterior paint color except Stella Black Metallic (paint code GB8). The Black roof option is normally optional for Luxury 3 and Sport 3 trim levels, priced at $600.

Per previous GM Authority coverage, the 2024 Cadillac Lyriq is available in eight exterior paint colors, including:

  • Radiant Red Tintcoat (GNT)
  • Opulent Blue Metallic (GTR)
  • Nimbus Metallic (G7X)
  • Emerald Lake Metallic (G6I)
  • Crystal White Tricoat (G1W)
  • Celestial Metallic (GJY)
  • Argent Silver Metallic (GXD)
  • Stellar Black Metallic (GB8)

In addition to a revised exterior paint options list, the 2024 Cadillac Lyriq also debuts a new base-level trim dubbed Tech. The new Tech trim level slots in underneath the Luxury trim level initially introduced for the 2023 model year. The 2024 Cadillac Lyriq also debuts the new Sport trim level, which sits parallel with the Cadillac Lyriq Luxury, per the marque’s Y-shaped trim level strategy.

All three of the 2024 Cadillac Lyriq trim levels offer either rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. All three trim levels also ride on the GM BEV3 platform and utilize GM Ultium battery packs providing the juice to GM Ultium drive motors. Production of the Cadillac Lyriq takes place at the GM Spring Hill plant in Tennessee. The Cadillac Lyriq first arrived for the 2023 model year as Cadillac’s first-ever all-electric production vehicle.

  2. Unfortunately that’s the only thing holding up being able to place my order. But I’ve already waited 14 months, what’s a few more?

  3. My 2023 Lyriq order was GM email-confirmed July 21, 2022.

The opening sunroof with power sun-shade is one of the main reasons I opted out of the 2023 and into the 2024 model year when the “build-your-Lyriq” email was received March 29, 2023.

The options selections completed using the GM-provided link and submitted the same day. Six months later, not only do we not yet have the car, but the ONLY communications from the dealer or GM have been when I initiate them. Sending emails about “special deals” on ICE vehicles does not count. Two months ago, after sending yet another inquiry to the dealer, the feedback was “hoping for delivery before the end of 2023”.

Communications have been horrible – including a chat with Cadillac Concierge. Delays and borderline “bait/switch” made tolerable only because of the sunroof addition, removal of the 2nd row door fins and changes to the door handles. There’s 3 months left in 2023. Patience is wearing VERY thin and 40 years of GM and Cadillac purchases may be ending.

  4. I can’t understand why a company as great as GM can screw up the launch of a car as greatly anticipated as the Lyriq.
I ordered my 2024 AWD long ago and at 92 years old, wonder if I will live long enough to see it.

    1. I’m nowhere near 92, but the feeling of being ignored by the manufacturer and dealer leads me to believe they are looking for a different demographic. The only reasons I can come up with are that paying cash and replacing an ICE SRX do not positively contribute the their business cases. The defense from the dealer is “there are parts shortages”. That may be accurate, but tell me that. Be pro-active. Don’t make me wait until I’m so irritated due to lack of contact and communication that I have to reach out to the dealer and the manufacturer for information. If I behaved this way in my job (ignoring my customer), I would have been immediately fired.
