Beyond the Bow Tie badge, first appearances don’t reveal much overlap between the 2024 Chevy Traverse and C8 Corvette Stingray – the former is a high-riding full-size crossover, while the latter is a two-seater mid-engine sports car. However, as GM Authority was the first to point out, there is a surprising similarity between these two models – both have very similar exhaust tips. Now, GM Authority has uncovered that while the two designs are extremely similar, the exhaust tips equipped by the 2024 Chevy Traverse are not the same as those equipped by the C8 Corvette Stingray.
For those readers who may have missed it, GM Authority reported back in April that the next-generation 2024 Chevy Traverse was equipped with a similar exhaust tip design as that of the C8 Corvette Stingray. Both vehicles are equipped with four exhaust tips total, two per corner, arranged horizontally and showing off a square tip finisher.
GM Authority based its previous analysis on spy photos of the 2024 Chevy Traverse, but now, the next-generation crossover has made its formal debut, dropping cover this past July. Looking over the latest press photos of the 2024 Chevy Traverse, we find that the crossover once again presents a quad-exhaust design that looks strikingly similar to that of the C8 Corvette Stingray.
To investigate further, GM Authority contacted Chevy engineers to determine if the 2024 Chevy Traverse has identical exhaust tips to those on the C8 Corvette Stingray. According to the GM engineers, the tips are not exactly the same.
While not surprising, the exhaust tip design between these two vehicles is so close, it was a topic that was worth following up. As a reminder, the 2024 Chevy Traverse cradles the turbocharged 2.5L I4 LK0 gasoline engine, rated at 328 horsepower and 326 pound-feet of torque (original output ratings revealed during the debut were 315 horsepower and 317 pound-feet of torque). Meanwhile, the C8 Corvette Stingray is motivated by the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 LT2 gasoline engine, rated at 490 horsepower and 465 pound-feet of torque.

How about some fake sound effects, also? It’s a manly 4 banger now.
CUSTOM EXHAUST TIPS FROM GM, RAISE THE SALE PRICE ANOTHER 2K NOW.
The 2.7 so far, seems to do well. However, the four cylinder sound is a dealbreaker. Maybe, they can get Bose to do the exhaust and get a throatier sound out of it. 🤣
Does the Chevy Traverse still have a transverse style engine layout? Yes, of course it does. Wake me up if they ever do a rear wheel drive layout. And offer an inline 6. Until then it’s phoned-in minivan garbage, despite the promising looking off road model.
Um…what do you plan on using this thing for? It’s a family mover…and it’s an SUV. SUV to me means vehicle for a person not smart enough to purchase the proper tool because of their image to others(a minivan) or for someone who doesn’t need an off roader (jeep).
I have the proper tool for each job. A pickup for work, a minivan for hauling the family and friends. (I’ve never seen a family with 3-4 kids plus their friends in an SUV that didn’t have dinged up doors from the kids opening too far at a grocery store) you can tell them all you want..but they are kids and when several kids from soccer, baseball, hockey are getting in and out .the doors ding. That’s why we have a minivan.
Then I also have the autocross lightweight car for that job. See…each proper tool for it’s job. When does an SUV make the best tool?
