The 2024 model year introduces a mid-cycle refresh for the GMC Sierra HD, ushering in a variety of changes affecting the heavy-duty pickup truck’s exterior, cabin space, trim level lineup, powertrain, and more. The 2024 GMC Sierra HD also offers a wide selection of wheel designs, but now, GM Authority has learned that one of those wheel designs is currently unavailable.
According to GM Authority sources, the wheels in question are simply called the 20-inch Chrome aluminum wheels, and are currently unavailable for the 2024 GMC Sierra HD.
Tagged with RPO code SHL, the 20-inch Chrome aluminum wheels were previously offered as an LPO-level option for the for the 2024 GMC Sierra HD, which means the wheels were installed at the dealer rather than at the factory when the vehicle was originally produced. The 20-inch Chrome aluminum wheels are normally offered on Denali and Denali Ultimate trim levels, and are priced at $3,995.
The 20-inch Chrome aluminum wheels are one of 13 wheel options originally unveiled for the 2024 GMC Sierra HD. Wheel sizing ranges between 17 and 20 inches in diameter, and includes eight factory installed options, as well as five LPO-level options. As for what’s under the hood of the 2024 GMC Sierra HD, the refreshed heavy-duty pickup is equipped as standard with the naturally aspirated 6.6L V8 L8T gasoline engine, which is rated at 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque. The pickup can also be had with the optional 6.6L V8 L5P turbodiesel Duramax engine, which was uprated to 470 horsepower and 975 pound-feet of torque with the 2024 model-year refresh (previously 445 horsepower and 910 pound-feet of torque prior to the refresh). Both powerplants connect to the Allison-branded 10-speed automatic transmission.
Under the body panels, the 2024 GMC Sierra HD rides on a more-capable variant of the GM T1 platform. Production takes place at the GM Flint plant, located in Michigan.
