The 2022 GMC Terrain introduced the fifth model year of the current second-generation crossover. As GM Authority covered previously, some units of the 2022 GMC Terrain were under constraint for two specific safety features. Now, GM Authority has learned that retrofits for these features are now under way.
The two safety features previously under constraint for the 2022 GMC Terrain include Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RPO code UFG), as well as Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert (RPO code UKC). The constraint affected all units of the 2022 GMC Terrain SLE, SLT, and AT4 trim levels built after July 4th, 2022, with the constraint lasting until the end of production of the 2022 model year. Affected units were indicated as such by RPO code 00S on the window sticker. The 2022 GMC Terrain Denali was not affected by this constraint.
Normally, 2022 GMC Terrain SLE, SLT, and AT4 trim levels offer Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Lane Change Alert with Side Lane Zone Alert as part of the GMC Pro Safety Plus package, which is tagged with RPO code PED. Meanwhile, 2022 GMC Terrain Denali trim levels include the features as standard.
The 2022 GMC Terrain introduced a model refresh that included a revised trim level lineup, new styling, new interior materials, and more. The GMC Terrain was originally scheduled to receive a refresh for the 2021 model year, but due to complications arising from the COVID-19 pandemic, the refresh was pushed back to 2022 model year instead.
As for the specs, the 2022 GMC Terrain was offered with just a single engine option, specifically the turbocharged 1.5L I4 LYX gasoline engine. Output is rated at 170 horsepower and 203 pound-feet of torque, while under the skin, the 2022 GMC Terrain rides on the GM D2 platform. Production takes place at the GM San Luis Potosà factory in Mexico.
