The GM Authority Take

Chevrolet Colombia sales began the new calendar year with a notable decrease in January, deepening the brand’s negative performance in country. In fact, the drop represents the Bow Tie’s third consecutive in the red in the Colombian market.

However, the 2,325 deliveries recorded in January allowed Chevy to regain the title of Colombia’s best-selling automobile brand, beating out Renault, which sold 2,295 vehicles.

The decline in Chevrolet Colombia sales in January was marked by lower sales of the brand’s primary volume models – the Chevy Onix, Tracker and Captiva. These models, with a cumulative loss of 608 units, joined the discontinued Chevy Beat to tip the balance into the red. Even so, the Onix range finished the month with a considerable lead as the best-selling vehicle in Colombia.

Meanwhile, five Chevrolet nameplates managed to increase their sales volumes on a year-over-year basis, including the N-Series line of commercial trucks as well as the Chevy Colorado pickup, which posted a triple-digit increase. In addition, the first ten units of the new 2023 Chevy Silverado 1500 were registered in Colombia in January ahead of the recent launch of the full-size pickup in the country.
