2023 Chevy Silverado HD Regular Cab, Double Cab Production Under Constraint

GM just revealed the fully refreshed 2024 Chevy Silverado HD late last month, debuting a long list of changes and updates. That said, customers can still place an order for the pre-refresh 2023 Chevy Silverado HD, however GM Authority has learned that there is a new constraint in place for production of the 2023 Chevy Silverado HD Regular Cab and Double Cab body styles.

According to sources familiar with the matter, GM will stop building 2023 Chevy Silverado HD Regular Cab and Double Cab models as of late October. Critically, this constraint is not the result of a supplier issue or parts issue, but rather was put in place as a corporate decision. That said, this constraint will likely change over time.

The 2023 Chevy Silverado HD online configurator went live in August. Although the 2023 model year is largely unchanged compared to the preceding 2022 model year, pricing has increased by $1,000 for all trim levels and configurations. Prior to the new constraint outlined above, the least-expensive 2023 Chevy Silverado HD on offer was the 2500HD WT Regular Cab with rear-wheel drive and the 6.6L V8 L8T gasoline engine, starting at $42,295. Now, however, with the new constraint, the least-expensive 2023 Chevy Silverado HD available to order is the Sierra 2500HD WT Crew Cab / Standard Bed with rear-wheel drive and the 6.6L V8 L8T gasoline engine, which starts at $46,295.

To note, the 6.6L V8 L8T gasoline engine is rated at 401 horsepower at 5,200 rpm and 464 pound-feet of torque at 4,000 rpm. The 2023 Chevy Silverado HD is also available with the 6.6L V8 L5P turbodiesel Duramax engine, which is rated at 445 horsepower at 2,800 rpm and 910 pound-feet of torque at 1,600 rpm.

Under the skin, the Chevy Silverado HD rides on the more-capable variant of the GM T1 platform. Production takes place at the GM Flint plant in Michigan and GM Oshawa plant in Canada.
