Though Chevrolet Argentina sales were essentially flat in August 2022, the results expand the brand’s positive behavior while also bucking the overall performance of the Argentine auto market, which saw a 2.5 percent drop during the month. As such, August 2022 represents Chevrolet’s fourth consecutive increase in monthly sales volume in the South American country.
In August, the Chevy Cruze was once again the Bow Tie brand’s protagonist in Argentina, registering a notable double-digit increase that continues to make it the best-selling GM model in the country. In fact, the Cruze has been able to maintain its healthy levels of popularity in the local market due to a recent update that expanded the model range. Another factor contributing to its healthy performance are better levels of inventory as a domestically-manufactured vehicle.
Beyond the Cruze, the Chevy Onix was also a standout performer, earning its second monthly sales increase so far this year.
By contrast, the Chevy Tracker crossover and S10 pickup truck suffered notable declines, offsetting the strong performance of the Cruze and Onix, limiting the Bow Tie’s overall performance. Notably, the Tracker had been Chevy’s best-selling model during August of 2021, and the subcompact crossover just recently started local production at the GM Alvear plant in Argentina. However, the fruits of this development have not yet been reflected in the Argentine market.
