First 2023 Cadillac Escalade-V To Be Auctioned For Charity

The first production example of the 2023 Cadillac Escalade-V will be auctioned off at Barret-Jackson at its upcoming Las Vegas auction, with all proceeds from the sale benefitting the Pensole Lewis College of Business & Design, which is Michigan’s only Historically Black College or University (HBCU).

The Pensole Lewis College of Business & Design was recently re-established in 2021 under the leadership of Dr. D’Wayne Edwards, a celebrated designer of athletic footwear. In addition to receiving the 2023 Cadillac Escalade-V tagged with VIN 001, the winning bidder of the auction will also have the opportunity to sit down with Dr. Edwards to design a pair of custom sneakers that will be manufactured as an exclusive, one-of-one run.

“On behalf of everyone at the Pensole Lewis College of Business & Design, we’re thrilled to collaborate with Barrett-Jackson and Cadillac as the beneficiary for the auction of the first-ever V-series Escalade,” Dr. Edwards said in a statement. “Car enthusiasts know better than most that the art of design goes beyond the eyes and into the soul. From what we wear to what we drive, design is an expression of who we are, and we’re proud that the proceeds of this auction are an investment in the next generation of creative design.”

The winning bidder of the VIN 001 2023 Cadillac Escalade-V will select their preferred Cadillac dealer after the gavel falls, with their order to be delivered by that dealer once production begins later this year. While a 2023 Cadillac Escalade-V will be present on the auction block in Las Vegas for the sale, this will be a pre-production model that will only be representative of the vehicle the winning bidder will receive.

The 2023 Cadillac Escalade-V comes packing GM’s supercharged 6.2L V8 LT4 gasoline engine, which delivers an impressive 682 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 653 pound-feet of torque at 4,400 rpm. All that muscle is sent to the ground via the GM 10-speed automatic transmission, which connects to a full-time all-wheel drive system. Production will commence at the GM Arlington plant in Texas later this summer.

While pricing for the 2023 Cadillac Escalade-V starts at $149,990, it’s likely that VIN001 will be purchased by a wealthy collector and will thus sell for much more than that.
