The 2022 GMC Terrain is once again available to order with heated and ventilated seats, GM Authority has learned.
As of the May 1st production date, all 2022 GMC Terrain units normally equipped with heated front seats, ventilated front seats and heated outboard rear seats will be built with these features. All three of these items were under constraint since March 14th due to the global semiconductor shortage.
Heated front seats (RPO code KA1) are optional on the GMC Terrain in the SLE trim level and are standard on the SLT, AT4 and Denali trim levels. Meanwhile, the Ventilated front driver seat (RPO KU1), Ventilated front passenger seat (RPO KU3) and Heated outboard rear seats (RPO KA6) are optional on Denali and are not offered on the SLE, SLT and AT4 trim levels.
As with other GM vehicles that have been built without certain electronic features amid the chip shortage, 2022 GMC Terrain units affected by the heated and ventilated seat constraint will be labeled as such on the window sticker. Customers will also be able to take their vehicle to the dealership at a later date to have these features retrofitted.
Heated and ventilated seats also recently returned to the 2022 Chevy Equinox, which shares the GM D2 platform with the Terrain. A variety of GM vehicles have begun to receive certain powered/electronic features back in recent weeks as GM’s access to automotive grade microchips improves, including the 2022 Chevy Camaro, for example, as well as the 2022 Chevy Malibu.
The 2022 GMC Terrain is only offered with the turbocharged 1.5L I4 LYX gasoline engine, rated at 170 horsepower at 5,600 rpm and 203 pound-feet of torque at 2,000 rpm. The crossover is produced exclusively at the GM San Luis Potosà plant in Mexico.
As GM Authority reported earlier this month, the 2022 GMC Terrain recently added a new Black Diamond Edition to its order books, which includes all the content from the Denali Premium Package content (RPO PCV), along with a SkyScape power sunroof (RPO C3U) and 19-inch aluminum painted wheels with an After Midnight finish (RPO PJO).

Good news for terrain buyers but only 1 problem 2022 terrain are soon to be delivered as 2023 Terrain cut off date is approaching very soon which is really not a big deal but wait to expect 3-6 month delivery time my gm local gm dealer tells me if I order a terrain denali I will probably see it at the end of the year if there isn’t any other constraint issue or longistic issue either way no inventory or dealer lots and low mileage 2020 terrain Denali are selling from 38k-43 k in Ontario Canada and a new terrain denali is approximately 44-46 k it’s all crazy I tell ya !
Would be nice to get those chips in Sierra AT4 sold five months ago.
Anyone know when the heated/ventilated seat retrofit chips for my 2022 Canyon Denali will be available for install? Took delivery almost 6 months ago. Thanks, Ernie
Just like Ernie, I have been waiting over 6 months for my retrofit heated seat chip. Someone at GM must know how much longer we have to wait. I have a 2022 Terrain. How will we be notified? When I bought the Terrain I was told no longer than August.
Yep here we are another 2 months gone past with no news. My dealer, inventory manager won’t even answer me? What gives and how much longer please!!!
