2022 Chevy Malibu Gets Heated And Ventilated Seats Back

The 2022 Chevy Malibu is the seventh model year for the nameplate’s ninth generation, introducing only a few small updates and changes over the preceding 2021 model year. Now, GM Authority has learned that the 2022 Chevy Malibu is once again available with heated and ventilated seats after the features were previously placed under constraint as a result of the global microchip shortage.

According to GM Authority sources, all new units of the 2022 Chevy Malibu that would normally be equipped with heated front seats, ventilated front seats, and heated outboard rear seats will once again include those features, as of May 1st production. Previously, these features were under constraint since December 10th, 2021 production.

Heated front seats for the 2022 Chevy Malibu are tagged with RPO code KA1, and are usually included as standard on LT and Premier trim levels, and not offered for LS or RS trims. Meanwhile, Ventilated front seats are tagged with RPO code KU9 and Heated outboard rear seats are tagged with KA6, and both are usually equipped as standard on 2022 Chevy Malibu Premier trims, but not offered for LS, RS, or LT trim levels.

Notably, dealer inventory for the Chevy Malibu is highly limited in the U.S., with just eight days’ worth of supply remaining as of the first week of March, 2022, as GM Authority exclusively reported previously.

As for the greasy bits, the 2022 Chevy Malibu is available with the two engine options, including turbocharged 1.5L I4 LFV gasoline engine, rated at 163 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque, and the turbocharged 2.0L I4 LTG gasoline engine, rated at 250 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. The LFV connects to the MRG continuously variable transmission (CVT), while the LTG mates to the GM nine-speed automatic. Under the skin is the GM E2 platform. Production for the Americas takes place at the GM Fairfax plant in Kansas City, Kansas.
