Watch The GMC Hummer EV Pickup Being Built At Factory Zero: Video

Production of the GMC Hummer EV Edition 1 began at the GM Factory Zero plant in Michigan last week, with General Motors now releasing a promotional video showing the first examples being produced at the facility.

The promo video opens with a drone shot of the solar panel array that provides some of the energy to the GM Factory Zero plant (formerly called Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly), which underwent a $2.2 billion renovation this year in preparation for EV production. Interior shots of the plant are then shown, with a naked GMC Hummer EV Pickup chassis seen sitting on the shop floor surrounded by various assembly robots and manufacturing equipment.

This video also shows robots painting the GMC Hummer EV Edition 1 bodies in the only exterior color that is available at the moment: Interstellar White. As some readers may already know, every Hummer EV Edition 1 will be identical, featuring a white exterior and a unique Lunar Horizon interior upholstery color with bronzed accents. Once the bodies leave the paint shop, they roll down a line where employees affix various exterior components and trim elements and install the interior. Additionally, this video shows the large 200 kWh Ultium battery packs being installed in the GMC Hummer EV Pickup from the bottom up.

This video ends as the words ‘We’re in, are you?’ flash across the screen – which is a reference to GM’s new ‘Everybody In’ tagline. The ‘Everbody In’ tagline was introduced to help promote GM electric vehicles and encourage its customers to switch from internal combustion engine products to more eco-friendly battery-electric ones.

Reservations for the GMC Hummer EV Edition 1 are sold out, so customers who didn’t get their order in will have to wait for the EV3X trim level to enter production at Factory Zero late next year. Prices for the Hummer EV Edition 1 started at $112,595, while the EV3X is priced from $99,995.

  7. mrflorida: I’m with you. The Asian automakers offer fitness and pre shift exercise programs for their workers. When you see a picture of Asian auto workers in the plant, they are fit, trim and healthy looking.

  8. I expect the fit and finish of the Hummer to out do the Rivian R1T. I just saw a review of the fit and finish and it was right up there with Avanti when it was an independent company. That is not hood.

Door fit was not hood and panel gaps were poor.
